My problem......in the last 8 months I have gained 10 lbs. Im working hard to get it off but Im scared of gaining back my weight. Even tho its just 10 lbs. Im starting to feel like the old me (even tho Im 75 lbs less). Has anyone else been here?

I am not there yet....but I have to say that this reminded me of a woman I saw on Oprah who had the surgery. She commented that now she is a "normal" person and when she gained 5-10 pounds she recognized it and started working on getting it back off. In her past life it would have been 20-40-60 pounds and not stopped.
SO- be glad you recognized it, and are doing something to change it. Just don't let 10 turn into 20 and I am sure you will be fine! We are here if you need the support!

I'm 6yrs post and the FIRST thing I will ask is are you drinking/eating same time? No matter what a lot will say YOU WILL GAIN doing this! experience says so!
Also...have you done a regular check with the surgeon in the past year? I would ask them for a endoscopy and small bowel series to make SURE your stoma hasn't soften and opened up.
This is what happened to me around the time post op you are. It started with a very small re-gain of 10-15 in spite of not eating bad things, of running 6 days a week, then vomiting started and fast moving bowels...no one had answers on that so they did a scope and the small bowel series..pouch intact ! 1 oz still but wow, wide open stoma..and down long at the last bend a stenosis, (narrowing of the bowel) which twists sometimes, usually with undue high stressors.
So..a visit to the surgeon if possible or ask your regular doc for a referral.
Plus you got to be really honest with yourself too. Have carbs creeped back in? pushing sodas..I swear they really are evil! Or latte overload? (even with skim, calories calories!
to me, anyone far post who has been stable and starts ANY regain, that should be a concern and needs to be seriously addressed.

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on your wonderful weight loss.
BreeChick's given you good points to ponder.
If you think you've strayed and that's the problem, getting back to the basics is best.
Hope you do well with it.
(((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.

Thanks for bringing this up! Even though I'm only 15 months out, it's important that we know what's important to keep from regaining. BreeChick brought up some really good points I think we forget as time goes on. Here's a link to a thread that has some really good info in it. http://www.renewedreflections.com/fo...regaining.html
I hope it shows up but it's in the graduates section as a checklist for those regaining.
You can get it off, just go back to basics!
Good luck,
Janie

I will be 2 yrs postop in October. Honestly, yes I surely fear regain. My lowest was 116 and I felt too thin and sickly during my kidney stone episode. So I gained a little back, although my "ultimate high weight number" is 125, meaning that IF I go over 125, its time to cut back and get strict with myself. I recently got up to 129 due to hormones and not being able to go to the bathroom and I took one week and lost almost 5 lbs. Now I feel much better about myself, and my ability to use the restroom has returned, thankfully. But we won't discuss THOSE issues here! LOL
I think fear can be a good thing. It can keep us on track, if we let it. It however, cannot be so much controlling over us, that it paralyzes us. Case in point: how many of us had speech class or public speaking? Many had fear, but some utilized it to help their speeches, others allowed it to paralyze them so that they were either unable to speak loud enough to be heard, OR they passed out or puked. No lie. So I think that there is a healthy way to utilize the fear of regain so that we can use it as a tool to help us stay on target.
Good luck, and welcome to the board.
