| 4 Years & 4 Months Post-op And Completely Out Of Control
Hello All:
I am new to this site! Somewhere, sometime ago I've totally lost my way! I have tried weight watchers, and a number of other diets in the last year to get to my ideal weight. It wasn't until the other day when I was looking up information on the lastest diet I planned to try, when I came across this forum. And it clicked....I had long ago stopped communicating with my fellow WLS Family! And this has been my demise. I am trying to live my life like people who haven't had WLS and it has gotten me no where, but a 51 lb weight regain (my lowest weight was 167lbs back on 11/18/06). Which has smashed my self-esteem. I have totally become addicted to Ritz crackers and other carbs. Which made me totally believe I was a failure. Like I totally took this tool, this gift that I have been given and totally took it for granted. It wasn't until coming across this site that I begun to feel like I am not a failure and that I can get back to using my tool for my better health.
My question to my WLS family is....Is there anyone else who is 3 or more years post-op? Have you been able to keep the weight off? If you have had struggles...How have you gotten back on track?
Any insight that can be shared will be greatly appreciated?
Thanks a lot
P.S. I plan to post pics as soon as my computer is up and running. All my pics are on my other computer which has been down for 3 months now.

I am not 3 years out, but I do know that studies show over and over again that support is a definite factor in long term success in WLS as well as other weight loss journeys.
You have SO MUCH to offer all us newbies. Don't think you are doomed to failure. Just call it a 50 lb wake up call! Here is what I hear from the vets...go back to basics... protein and veggies, and get that carb monkey off your back. You taking your vitamins? You will be feeling better within a week and the weight will begin to peel off again.
Please post often! I look forward to seeing your pics!

Judijo:
Thanks for your words of encouragement. I plan to do exactly that (get back to basics). I plan to start with the 3 day LPT. The problem is..I have a wicked toothache and I am on antibiotics, I don't want to do a LP diet until I am off the antibiotics and pain meds. So hopefully, I will start this weekend.

welcome to the site. glad you found us. i am not as far out but i think there are a handful on here who are. email Breechick and try fr1endly2. they may have some insight as they are the furthest out that i remember offhand.
i know its hard, but try to get back to the basics; protein first, keep meals separate from fluids, and get in all your fluids through out the day. thats a start. its like riding a bike and we are all here to cheer you on. YOU CAN DO IT!!

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
No, you are not a failure, you just forgot that your pouch needs a little TLC that is different from a full size stomach. Plus, sure, you gained, but I'm sure it isn't like what is was pre-op, lose, regain, and then add some on.
Just go back to the basics as Kenyar said, protein first, lots of water, fluids and meals don't go together, yada, yada, yada.
Now, you say you have a bad toothache and are on antibiotics. Be remineded that crabs can be bad for infections, and proteins are good for healing, so just starting on the protein first, and making sure that you get in the required amount of daily protein, can help heal your tooth faster. And in doing so, you may find that your carb cravings will start fading, even without the doing the liquid proteins.
(((((HUGS)))))) May your journey go well.

Welcome to the board and I want to say I'm glad you are here to remind us that the future is not a gurantee, that we have to work at this to keep the weight off. We'll all be here to cheer you on and help you when you stumble, because some day we're going to be where you are and need that support too.
Good luck!

I'm only a year out, so it's hard for me to comment. I'm still kinda losing, but I know it will ALWAYS be a battle....one we will ALL have to fight each day. The tool helps us get to where we need to be....the REST IS UP TO US!!
There are a lot of forums heres with meal plans, tips and suggestions. Hopefully, this will help you get back on track and back to the basics....and POST AS MUCH as you can....it's like blogging and someone here is wondering the same thing you are posting....we are all going through mostly the same things!
Welcome aboard!
