Janice definitely talk to your doc because I swear to DOG that celexa is the reason I couldn't lose weight after the birth of my 4th child and why I eventually needed the surgery. I never really had a weight problem until the Celexa.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I will Danacain. I go see my surgeon on Friday. I really think I could do without them now. But i want to make sure its okay just to stop them. I was really really depressed for the first time in my life right after surgery ( never had to take anything for depression before that ) . I think it had something to do with the fact that I kept ending up in the hospital. I have had 3 return hospital stays. I feel so much better now so I think I can do without them. But I am going to ask to make sure first.

You know, I suffered from some minor depression after surgery; post surgical depression is very common. I'm guessing everyone here went through it to some degree. For a couple of weeks I felt absolutely wretched and I cried and was even sorry I'd had the surgery.

My shrink thinks it has something to do with the anesthesia. And if you had complications that would only exacerbate what you were going through.

Knowledge is power and it can also be a great cure for depression; just knowing what I was going through was totally normal helped me through it. Also, going for walks outside. Or just being outside really. Being outside does wonders for your mood.

And make sure you're getting enough sleep. Rest when you're tired and don't feel like you have to do everything. I had a hard time resting after surgery--I felt like I had to do everything all the time. It was maddening.

I really feel better than I have ever felt. I know I am not depressed anymore even though my last hospital stay was a few days before Christmas. I have been wondering if the depression was coming from the IV Diladid that they give me each time I go into the hopsital to stop the stomach and esphogus spasming. They has tried other less powerful pain meds but nothing else even comes close. Anyway, I feel really good mentally now. But in the back of my mind (yes I am a worrier) I wonder if it is because I am taking the Celexa. Guess I won't know the true answer to that until I quit taking them. I let you know what my doc. tells me on Friday. Thanks again for your help. I like having someone to talk to about it.

Oh anytime! Having this forum has been such a godsend; it really helps knowing someone, somewhere is going through or has been through the same thing.

I shudder to think where'd I'd be right now if I hadn't known the icky feeling early on was normal and temporary; I'm so glad I had the presence of mind to do some research before freaking out. Of course it helped that I had suffered from clinical depression before and knew what to look for...the first time I had PPD (post partum depression) I didn't know what it was and I thought I was a horrible mother who didn't love her child--it was years later I learned about PPD and when it happened again 10 years later I knew what it was.

And although I'd never had post surgical depression I knew what depression felt like and I was able to research it before it got a real hold on me.

Anyway, I am thrilled that you are feeling better--I know it's only going to get better from here! I'm so glad to have an awesome group of people to share this journey with--it has made a world of difference....

Lexapro helped get me where I was pre-op and one of the reasons I needed wls. I had bad post partum after I had my son, but I ballooned from 234 post baby to 286 in about 4 months thanks to lexapro. And by the time I was switched to wellbutrin, it was too late. It helped me to stop gaining, but that's about it. Now I'm good post wls, but stalled and that's ok with me. I'm a size 12-14 and a M or L in other things and feel great and I'm still on wellbutrin.

Greensgirl, I had the same experience. Celexa is one of the reasons I ended up need WLS too.
