Default 4 Years Post Op Now Having Problems Keeping Food Down.

Ok I am 4 years post op, with not one problem. Everything has been perfect, I was one of the fastest losers my Dr. had ever had, he has done thousands of RY GB. Anyways for the past 2 months I have been vomiting after eating solids, soups are fine and noodles appear to be fine. I take Prevacid or Protonix daily as prescribed by my Dr. after sx. I have lost below my goal weight this past month, 10lbs. and people are telling me I look bad. I used to could eat say two slices of thin crust pizza (without the crust) and now I can take 3 bites and I try to let it go down and 30 min. later I am in the bathroom vomiting. I have also noticed on occassions vomitous that looks like snuff tobacco, not sure if it is blood or maybe acid from a soda? I have not seen my Surgeon in 2 years, my family Dr. continues to do labs every year and they are always fine, I take a daily multivitamin also. What are the possibilities causing this?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Not really any pain to note of, I have had some burning sensation in the chest area like acid reflux. The tobacco looking stuff has only came up twice in 2 months, with several days in between. And I don't describe it as coffee grounds as to me it doesn't look like coffee grounds, looks just like snuff tobacco. I used to chew so that is why I say it looks like that I guess. But I was not and had not chewed when this happened, so it was not that. It is very uncomforatable after I eat, not really pain just very uncomfortable until the point I have to go vomit as I can't hold it down any longer. I can't even think about chicken, pork, steak any solids meats 2 bites and I am done. Again this just started about 2 months ago and has slowly gotten worse to the point I don't even want to eat. It almost feels like a stricture, but can I have one this far out? I mean I had gotten to a point about a year ago I could eat a fairly decent sized meal on special occassions. But like at X-mas this year, I had to vomit 3 times during dinner, I really wanted to eat and my family (who doesn't know I had GB) kept saying "is that all you are going to eat" so I had to do something. I dunno, I am worried. Another thing, I am 33 and have had only 1 cavity in my life, I had 14 the last dentist visit. I have very good hygeine practices, even have a $150 Sonic Aire tooth bursh and brush twice daily and use Listerene. I take a good multi vitiman daily, is this normal, nobody told me my teeth was going to decay. I mean I would have still had the sx but man this sux when the dentist always use to compliment me on my teeth, every dentist I ever seen always said I had GREAT teeth, and now they are crap :-(

yeah my teeth are going. you need to add calcium citrate with d daily. mine wisdom teeth are shot. LOL. i mean its not funny but what else can i do but laugh?? its not your fault. you may be clacium deficient which will lead to tooth decay i suppose.

you need bloodwork done, take calcium daily, and to see a doc about that not being able to eat. soon.

Not familiar with Calcium Citrate with D? What about just eating a couple of tums daily?

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on your wonderful weight loss and maintaining.
(((((((HUGS))))))) May your journey go well.

Who's following you up? Your orginal surgeon? Your PCP?
In any case, you need to be checked out for
1) ulcers
2) strictures (yes, you can get that late out, though it is rare)
3) blocked bowel (this can happen any time during your journey, once you've had ANY kind of major abdominal surgery, not just gastric bypass.

Call whoever's doing your follow up ASAP and be seen pronto.

I had called and made an appointment with my Surgeon who done the GB however I got iced over today and could not make the 1:30 min. drive in the ice storm. I am rescheduling. I have not seen him in 2 years as I have not had any problems. My Family MD / PCP has been doing my blood work semi annually and labs and so forth and everything has been great. Today has been good, I ate one scrabbled egg and one piece of toast, no problems. So I don't know what it is. Do you have any ideas what the "tobacco" looking stuff might have been?
