Hi i had gastric bypass in 2006 had a very slow weight loss still need to lose 50 pounds before I can have surgery for excess skin.I went into hospital for a month after surgery had to be fed thru a tube in my neck. Lost my job in 2007 lost my insurance, can any one tell me how to get help I am anemic take 2 iron pill a day now I cant sleep have no energy. I have a chronic pain in my upper right side that wakes me up out of my sleep pain so bad when I go to emergency room they have to give me morphine or demoral for pain they ran all types of test found nothing.Told me to go back to my surgeon only could afford to go back one time he gave me loratab for pain for to months the next time I need more pain pill he told me I need surgery and he wasn't going to give me nothing else for pain. It is a side effect from the surgery it would only get worse.I told him I am not working no insurance no Medicaid .They said there office in not equipped to handle patients without benefits to call back when I get some. Can't go to another doctor because it doesn't show up on test. Talked with another doctor he said when it does show up I will need emercency surgery lost and scared do anyone have any suggestions.

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on your weight loss up to now.
Sorry to hear of your problems.
What exactly was the diagnosis for the cause of pain? A twisted gut? Gall stones? Kidney stones? Since the surgeon said you'll need corrective surgery, I am thinking that's internal hernia causing twisted guts. In that case, pain meds are a a no-no, it will dull the edge of the pain and delay the timing for surgery when you need it, making it more complicated.
You will have to find some way to get medical benefits. Are you ineligible for Medicaid since you say you don't have it? The only thing I can think of at the moment is to start there, see if you can get Medicaid.
((((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.

I have to say that no medication will help you, the hernia has to be treated by surgery, there's no other way. You will have to be careful, because if the blockage becomes complete, your life will be in danger. Also be careful not to get dehydrated, dehydration will most likely make the symptoms worse.
You seriously need medical attention, can't you appeal the Medicare denial? Don't give up because they denied you once, try again.

Don't mess around with this. Find a hospital that will take patients without insurance. There should be some type of aid your state can give you. Have your surgeon talk to someone there and let them know what is going on.
I had an internal hernia that led to a complete blockage, long story short, I ended up in the hospital with emergency surgery and a nine day hospital stay. I also had 1 1/2 foot of small intestine removed. I am absolutely fine and dandy now, but if you can get yours untwisted before the tissue actually dies, which is what happened in my case, you can avoid losing part of the intestine and putting yourself in a life threatening situation.
DON'T PLAY AROUND WITH THIS! Contact your state health agency or a county or university hospital and see what can be done.
