Smile Newest update nearly 4 months out from major surg.

Still have not gotten a replacement for my laptop so I mainly still post either from the cell or the few times I can get online when the kids are not on their computers!

I do write my blog posts and schedule them to post about 3 times a week when possible though!

So this week..
A bit of a setback with some of the PT with the step up on PT causing pain and pulling at internal scarring that is trying to reform. So today we did a re-eval. and it actually was positive! She said the numbers using the sensor and the computer show steady slow improvement and we have a few things to add to work on this stubborn body trying to reform more scarring where so much was removed!

So after feeling discouraged all week and also hitting some very sad anniversaries back to back...today was much more positive. I got all dressed up just for PT..LOL But hey, my life is very home bound in a lot of ways still right now. So dressing up just to drive (I'm finally driving all by myself!) to PT is a big deal this week!

I was reminded by the PT'ist and also a dear friend who is an RN and retired PT (& is married to a doc), that it takes a FULL YEAR to completely heal from major surgery and to remember slow and steady is the order of the day. That by 6 months out it will be a whole different ballgame. But for now we do what is on the list and NO MORE BEYOND it.

Eating is still a frustrating issue for me but I'm working on doing what is best for MY body and it's needs, sticking with taking all 22-26 vitamins a day depending on the day of the week is a challenge and a friend is giving me my shot of b=12 bi weekly in the arm.

Eating is SO important to do 6 times to 8 times a day and I just tire of the constant struggle and disinterest, but each week it does get better Praise God!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

SB: you are so sweet. Actually I am quite alone day to day in the process but for the specialist (see every 3 mos now), surgeon(see her in oct) and the PT who I see much more often (1 time a month) and is very supportive and encouraging in a positive manner. I am blessed in the medical professionals I have are positive in their care and very thorough.

I can't state this enough to anyone..this surgery I just had ...nothing to do with WLS at all. Yes it interferred with the RNY but it was not because of the WLS and was absolutely NOT a revision.

Because it was so extensive, it's just a long process of healing and I've had to learn to just stop fighting the process. If all I can do for the day is get on my weight gym and do only upper body work and it's only 3 exercises and that's all I do...then that is all I do. I get tired rather easily so it's a "one thing at a time" and rest for a few hours then do something else kind of process.

I think the fall at just right at 5-6 weeks post and getting that tear at the incision made a strong and very deep impression on me that I could NOT push the process.

Maybe its all those years from being in the wheelchair and getting around on forearms crutches with the MS, etc that has caused me to look at this differently.

If it takes a full year? then it takes a year.

Healing does not happen overnight. Pure and simple.

Glad you're doing better, even if the progress is slow and almost undiscernible. There, we say, "Like a very fine layer of paper coming off daily one by one."
It's better to lay the bricks one by one and make sure they are cemented together, than to rush and build only to find some places are weak because you were in a hurry.
