I am 21 months out from wls and having a hard time. I have not been to this website for a long time and am looking for some help. I seem to have picked up all my old bad habits and am starting to gain weight back. I started at 257 and was down to 148. I have now gained back 7 lbs of my weight loss. I think its because of all of my old habits that have crept back into my life. I need some encouragement and words of wisdom to get me back on track. Please help me....

Just think back to Sep - Oct 2009 and everything that you went through to get were you are and how you promised you would never go back! Try to remember not being able to sit, walk, do anything comfortably and dont go back! Get all the carbs out of your diet and get back to protien and take a walk, whatever you do DONT GO BACK! Good luck...

Journal your food.
Join in on the threads in What Did You Eat Today? - Weight Loss Surgery Forums - RenewedReflections and make yourself accountable.
Plan all your meals ahead and stick to it.
Check on how you eat--are you sticking to the no drinking during/after meals rule?
Are you taking all your vitamins and minerals?
What about exercise? Make sure you do something daily.
Good thing you've caught yourself early. You'll be able to get back on track with dilligence.

Been there, done that. Thankfully found this site when trying to figure out what to do.
I echo all of the above and suggest going back to the 30/30/30 rule. If nothing else, what that rule does for me is makes me think about and prepare for anything I'm going to eat. That way, I don't find myself on autopilot at the refrigerator between meals.
My mother used to say that the best way to get back on track for anything is to go back to basics, and I have found that -- once again -- she was right.
You might want to do a pouch reset in order to get in the right frame of mind. I know that helped me immensely. It made me remember that I will ALWAYS be post WLS, and it made me physically feel my pouch again.
Thankfully, you found us at 7 pounds, and that is MORE THAN fixable. Stick around and let us know what's going on.

I can't say much more,I agree with everyone else. But I will add I am and will always be a food addict.I started smoking at age 15,quit when I got pregnant with my first child, started back a year later, quit when I got pregnant with my 2nd child, started back the day we brought him home.I once again quit in May 2009 when I started the process of wls, started back almost 4 months post-op.I have transferred my food addiction to cigarettes and I regret it daily, but only I can stop it and hopefully I will put them down forever this time.

I am right there with ya, sister. I started journaling my food this morning. If I eat it, suck it or drink it, it gets logged. If it is too much work to write it down, and it isn't worth eating, then it isn't food I HAD to have.
Long term weight loss maintanence is a mindful process and those who log (journal) food and movement are more likely to be successful in the long term.

| The good thing is, you have caught yourself. We will all struggle for the rest of our lives. My big thing that I am working on right now is the smoking. I was suppose to quit pre op. I lied and told them that i did.
I just went and bought an e-cigarette, and will be starting using that for awhile and see if that works.
The important thing is - is keep trying. |

| @Kathy: Would love to know how the e-cigarette is working out for you. I would like to suggest it to my husband who has a very hard time quitting, even with the patches. I just don't know anyone who has tried it. Good luck!

Hi all... I haven't had the surgery yet, but, I've been s smoker for over 33 years and quit 3 month ago, no patch, no nicotin at all... The e-cigerette sucks in my opinion. My Dr put me on Welbutrin, and it removed ALL cravings for me, 300mg a day, I'm slowly lowering to dose to get off it before actual surgery.. The smell of smoke makes me sick now. Give it a try!
Kathy
