Ugh!! My surgeon's office was supposed to have faxed all my info over to my health ins co on 12/18, come to find out, they never got anything. So I talked w/my surgeons office & they said the "Insurance Specialist" was on vacation last week, so she's just faxing it today!! I was hoping for a January surgery due to my job lay-off, but now, who knows when it will be! Tell me how almost 3 weeks can go by & nothing was done?! I understand we had a holiday, but I was told my paperwork would be faxed on 12/18...even if she was out last week on vacation, it should have been done before that. I know in the grande scheme of thing's this isn't really a big deal, but im just so tired of waiting. Then they wonder why you gain wait during this waiting process!! We'll duh, it's just a little stressfull to say the least. The most difficult part of this whole surgery thing is the insurance & waiting game. Sorry, just had to vent today...not to mention a little PMS! Thanks for listening!

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

feel free to vent - the insurance approval is such a significant element in the entire pre-surgery process and the waiting can really be frustrating. hang in there

I understand how you feel. It is a big deal to you if not to them. I played the waiting game also and it was hard. It will happen, then you can begin the most wonderful journey of you life. Even with up and downs it is so worth all the hoops we have to jump through to get it. Hang in there. Good luck. Let us hear from you.

Hang in there. I had a bit of a wait too, but it will happen and you'll wonder where the time went.

Good luck!!!

It is very upsetting! Hope it works out - tell everyone (insurance, Dr's office) that you have a pre existing scheduled time off from work, and it would really help you out if they can make it work - can they expedite?? Can't hurt.

Thanks for your support everyone....Yeah- Ive told eveyone at my surgeon's office about my job lay-off, so I had asked if thing's could be expidited. Unfortunately, there's a lot of hands thing's have to go through & because of that, i think communication breaks down during this entire, lengthy process. The bright spot is, my health ins co told me that it generally only takes a few days to get approved for this surgery, so that's a positive. This whole process is making me a little crazy (ok, more crazy than normal) I'll try to be patient...

I hear ya, sister. Oh, the memories of my doc's delay in processing the referral and then the surgeon leaving before I got there! It is all enough to go bald from pulling hair out!
