So I have all my paperwork done! My 6month supervised diet: DONE, my nut eval: DONE, my presence at a monthly meeting: DONE, Medical records sent over: DONE!!! I am all done and have sent it into the doctors office and so I called the other day to see if they had all the paperwork. I got a machine which was no biggie but I expected to be called back at least a week later. So today I sent an email to the surgery scheduler/ insurance verifier and her email came back that she is out of the office until further notice!!!! What is THAT all about??! I called again today to explain to them that I am just making sure all the paperwork got there so they can submit it to insurance so we'll see if I hear anything back from anyone. I am just frustrated because I did my part, now I have to wait on others to do their part. Sorry for the vent, just needed some place to go to talk about it. I am praying that I hear something soon but maybe this is just God's way of telling me I need patience! Thanks for listening and I will let you all know if I hear of anything soon.

i understand your frustration....i was SUPER impatient.....they dont understand the anxiety that goes along with the surgery and the waiting game involved.......you just have to breathe and the call will come.....it really will......everything will work...sounds like you worked your butt off getting everything in order.....your recognition will soon be here......

You've got the leg work done. Have you called & asked how long "until further notice means?" Perhaps ask who is doing the scheduling while the "scheduler" is out. It's frustrating to be johnny-on-the-spot getting everything you need to do done then have to cool your heels waiting for someone else. It may be there's nothing you can do until the scheduler gets back but I'd at least call the office to see. Good luck.

PS: We're fast approaching the end of the year which means having to pay deductible if you have to wait until January. You may be able to use this as a jumping off point for getting surgery scheduled.

UPDATE:

So I received an email from the Authorization coordinator and they have received my paperwork. They are now waiting for the social worker and the doctor to review my nut evaluation and then we'll schedule an appointment with the doctor. I am relieved that they have at least received the paperwork, now I can relax. It was just that I went through so many hoops, i didn't want to see my paperwork overlooked ya know? Thanks for the kind words and thoughts, I cannot wait until I get to join you all on the losers bench! I will keep you updated as to what is going on and when I get a date.

She was just probally out for a long weekend. Im glad they have revieved all the papter work and getting it to the surgeon for approval for them take you as a patient.

Speaking of frustrated! I met with my surgeon on August 23. The local hospital set up the appointment. When the local hospital called they asked my height and weight! (I do not have scale in my house, it's against the law) so I said 5'6 and weight is about 245. So she made the appointment for me. The day of my appointment, the surgeon was running behind schedule so the nurse "checks" me in, she says "oh I see they already have your height and weight in here". Dah! Me not thinking didn't say I NEED TO BE WEIGHED!!! The surgeon's office submits my paperwork to the insurance company and I was denied because my BMI was a 39!
I was PISSED to say the very least, so I drive right to my primary doctors office the same day that I got the denial from insurance to get weighed on a scale. Guess what I weigh 257!!! I immediately called the surgeon's office and chewed some MAJOR butt, then I called the case worker from my insurance company. Michelle is my insurance advocate and is an absolute doll, rather than appealing the decision, a "peer to peer" will be done sometime on Monday. This is a step which could have been avoided by me opening my big mouth and the local hospital doing it's JOB!
Needless to say, now we have to get the peer to peer scheduled which shouldn't take that long and then get the official approval. The good news is that my insurance case manager told me that "this changes everything" and also said once the peer to peer is done she would have good news for me.
Remember people! The squeaky wheel gets the grease!!!
