Good question. Remember that Flex plan will pay for OTC meds also. I always base it on what I can afford. The beauty of this is you can use it for others in your househould to for glasses dentist bills etc. I used mine mainly for precription copays. Another thing to consider is what is your Catastrophic Cap on your plan. Mine is 3,000 dollars a year. And unfortunally for the past 3 years I hit it just 4 months into the year. A hosptial stay always puts me over it fast. Any thing over that my insurance pays 100 percent of anything owed counting my precription medications. So yea make a call. I have TRICARE which is a military insurance coverage. Its called Standard. So they all differ and Aetna is a good insurance policy from what I have seen of it in past years. I used to deal with them while working for a physican and they are very good. SO yea make the call and see if they can help you decide.
