Hello,Everyone.... Thank-you all for your well wishes on my approval for my DS....small rant please : My insurance cord. told me she just needed the approval ref.# from my insurance and we can schedule my consent day and surgery date. Well, today she told me surgery cord. would contact me about dates well she did, she said she would not schedule me for consent day or surgery or even pull my file until I faxed her my approval letter she needed to see it in writing. I'm like that's fine. I call the uhc and ask them to please fax approval letter to her ,they say they only fax approval letters if it's been 10 days and the surgeons office haven't received it and then they need to request it.,but the surgeons office can go online as a provider and all the approval info. is on there.I say oh, ok and call her back, she was not inspired at all, she says well when you get the letter fax it to me when I get the fax then I will pull your file and make sure all your test and classes are in order then I will schedule you a consent day. What !!! I understand needing the letter fax, I even understand her not wanting to go out of her way and look up my approval on line. but I'm confused as why you won't even look at my file? My thought is I'm pretty confident I've donne all required test and I'm still in support groups on my own not mandated but if there is a chance somethings not there wouldn't it be great to get it taken care of while we are waiting for the letter in the mail !!! ok, I've ranted enough but it's ok,because I"M APPROVED and I politely said ok Thank you,I've come to far to let them upset me. Ahh gessh. Honey I know they have to contact the physicans office either by phone or by mail usually both ways..... to let them know your approved. The reason they want that letter is because incase for some odd reason they deny payment they have that letter as prof of approval.

I can see it both ways. I like your thinking best and yes it should be that way. This is Drs offices are driven to be like that however. I would bet they dont link up with UHC on the computer. I know this because at one time that was a part of my job to do at a surgeons office. You have to go through alot of leg work paper work legal work then sign in and password it all the time and if your a minute late redoing a pass word you back at the beginning again.

No its not fair and im all on your side. Until then...... wait until you get your letter. Make a copy of it and then take it to them. Im gonna bet they will have the same letter at the same time you do. We used to get confirmation buy phone and letter usually before the patient did. I have this to say also. Out of all insurances I ever delt with in the surgeons office. UHC was the absolute worst. They dont pay well to the Physican. The patient is covered however and they do what is stated in the contract to pay.
