I am close to having finished all the requirements set forth by the insurance company. On Thursday, 4/21, I will be finished with the 3-month Weight Watchers requirement. I am curious (nervous) that I could still be denied. What are some reasons an insurance company may deny? How long did it take for everyone to get the approval/denial? Do insurance companies have an appeal process?? So worried...can you tell?

I made a list of requirements and crossed each appt, test whatever "off". THe surgeon's office sent in to the insurance and I was approved in 4? days. I think they
called me and sent me a letter confirming it. I had no problems getting approved but I did everything asked of me. I believe my surgeon's office had someone who knew
exactly what to do.. so ask! Someone coordinates all of that, knows the different
companies, etc. I have heard there is an appeal process if needed.

My surgeons office made sure I did everything that was required from the insurance company(from the first day I attended the seminar)I had to do six months medically supervised diet.When my paperwork was submitted to the insurance company I was approved within 2 weeks.I drove myself crazy thinking I was not going to be approved,the mind games are the worst!!Good luck and keep us posted

Thanks for the replies. Seems the insurance company may reply in a decent amount of time. We do have a lady that works with the insurance companies and she has been really good at telling me what to do. She also provided me with a checklist...and I'm about the check off the last requirement!

I understand how you feel. I have my last wls appt. Thurs. then I will be waiting for insurance approval. I feel sick when I think about the waiting time I have a checklist from my ins. company and have done everything and they have been great at the bariatric clinic. I was told I could be approved in 2 days or up to 6wks. LOL, I am nervous too. Keep us posted and I hope they approve you fast

Hey try to not worry too much. I was in your boat last year. I met with a surgeon (1/14) before I did anything else. She said I looked like a good canidate and started the process. From there it went quickly. I had been on WW for years and had also done phen-fen. So that met the time requirements. I had my surgery on 4/14. I did everything they asked and the insurance approved me no problem. Good luck...
