Just want to introduce myself. I am new to the forum and just starting my journey for approval by Federal BCBS for Gastric Bypass Surgery. I welcome any pointers.
Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery. Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.
I have BCBS of IL. The only pointers I can give you is to know your policy well. Have them show you how to get a copy of coverage and exclusions online. And, if you have the WLS rider, get a copy of that too. If you have a something like a 6 month Weight Watchers requirement (I did) check back periodically to make sure nothing changes before you are finished.
* My insurance company had a 3-month requirement for WW and about 2.5 months in, they changed it to 6 months. I was disappointed...but survived.
