I was wondering if any of you all have Aetna Insurance. Or if you had it when you had WLS. This is one insurance that is popular in the USA but i have never seen a post about it. Another question ....... do any of you know if your state has passed a law regarding WLS and requiring insurances to pay for it. Im curious as you all well know about this. This is somthing i want to find out just to help others that might run accross this site.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I've been looking on the internet and i cant find anything at all. i dont think its law (yet) but i would think we are moving in the right direction. I am sure there was a point in time when it was MUCH harder to get this even considered. now for some of us, our approvals went right thru on the first try. plus with all of the media attention i am sure that sometime in the near furture there will be state specific laws and guidlines in our favor. I'm still looking on the internet though...i'll let you know if i find anything.

Yes they have a law on it. They dont mandate it though. Lets say one insurance company offers 120 differnt plans. They only have to have one plan that covers it so inturn the other 119 plans they have under that insurance compnays name can say absolutly not.

Hi,
I had Aetna insurance where I worked and they just kept giving the runaround for 7 months always requiring something more. I could not stand the job I worked at and quit, then paid my surgery by myself. They wanted alot of pre-op teaching and at least one year of supervised diet and the list was always changing.

No Kenya you got it right. Thank you Nora for for contributing to it along with Boots and Barbie. Im sorry about the confusing question.

Let me see if i can explain myself. The goverment can recommend alot and states can pass laws but there are always loopholes.

You know HIPPA the new privacy acts we have. Its always been state laws for medical people. That is one of the first things you are taught in school. The govemerment had to step in and inact a law that made states and providers follow it.
