Hi everyone,
I'm super worried my date was pushed back due them giving me a date on a major holiday. And my insurance is acting all funny towards what doctors have I seen for the psych evaluation and all kinds of stuff. Now i'm super worried about them not approving my surgery date in time!!! Has anyone had a date by their surgeon and then denied?

The surgeon typically wont give you a date without approval.They are probably just asking routine questions.Have faith! Hope you get a complete approval soon. God Bless and Merry Christmas..

Actually I am not officially approved yet, but have had my date for almost 2 months. My doc requires me to lose 10% of my weight pre-op and do this by using only 5 medifast shakes daily (450 cal. total and I started 12-19-07) until the day before my surgery when I go to clear liquids. My insurance company requires me to lose 5% of my weight pre-op, and I need a 'clearance' from my family doc. I have that appt. on 1-7-08 and I'm only 4-5 pounds form being 5% down. I asked my docs office how likely is approval and she said with my insurance company (MVP), they respond in 24-36 hours and denial is extremely rare, and not a surprise. This is all they do, so they would know. Just ask your doctors office about approval and maybe they can ease your fears. Good luck!

Yes Alot Of Doc Give A Surgery Date Without The Approval Yet. My Doc Gave Me Mine Before We Knew If I Were Approved. In A Way Im Glad He Did Because That Helped Speed Things Up. I Had No Problems With Getting Approved But I Wish You All The Luck Girl!!!! Please Keep Us Posted

Well I still super worried but I know I will get approved before the surgery. I'm in contact almost daily with my care advocate. I'm really excited too tomrrow is my appt for my presurgery clearence and I cant sleep!

Still nothing! Now my insurance wants a phyc test that my bariatrics center at the hospital dosent do! Help I need sugestions

Did they give you the names of people who will do the test? If your care provider doesn't know (but they should if they do this all the time), then call the insurace company and ask them for the exact test name and who does it. Then call those people ASAP to schedule the appt and explain your urgent situation. I'll be thinking about you, keep us posted.
