Question Carbzilla!!!

Good morning ladies,

Well I just wanna share this scary moment with you, and wonder if any of you have the same issue?!

This morning I reviewed my food journal and I've noticed that I become a Carbzilla just before the TMO! I eat a lot, and not any quality of food but mainly carbs! I become a scary monster.

Yesterday was my one month anniversary at the GYM and I should have taken the measurements but I was so scared that I might have gained weight or maybe retained water..or truly gained extra inches because for the past couple of days I ate carbs a lot and I mean A LOT!!!

UUGHHHHH it just frustrates me that I go through this just by the time I should be sooooooooooo ready for my big event!!! next 4/18/07 will be my surgeversary and I soooooooo want to be at the 97 or 96kg!!! I know I'm a bit far from the onederland but I have baby targets and with this Carbzilla mood I guess it's not gonna happen =/

Carbzilla anyone??

Love,
Hanadi

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Totally normal to get into the carb moods.....And to be honest we do need carbs in our diets.....So if you go overboard once in a while ...so be it. Majority of the time you are doing GREAT i know this because i read what you eat everyday in your posts...

What are carbohydrates?

Carbohydrates can be divided into two broad groups: complex or starchy carbohydrates and simple carbohydrates or sugars. All carbohydrates are made up from sugars and each gram of carbohydrate provides 3.75 kcalories.
Simple carbohydrates

Simple carbohydrates are made up of single sugars (called monosaccharides) or two sugars joined together (called disaccharides). These sugars are quickly broken down in the mouth and stomach and are absorbed into the blood stream, causing a rapid rise in blood sugar levels. This rapid rise causes the body to produce a sharp rise in insulin levels and results in the sugars being converted into fat - something we want to avoid.
The rapid rise in blood sugar levels is usually followed by a rapid drop. This means that, although we get a "quick lift", the downside is that simple carbohydrates will very quickly leave us feeling more tired than before. These drops in blood sugar levels can cause dizziness and feelings of hunger and weakness. Also, eating a lot of simple sugars can be responsible for tooth decay.
Where are they found?

A good example of a simple sugar is sucrose. This is the type of sugar that we put in tea and coffee. It is also found in many cakes, pastries, biscuits, soft drinks and other confectionery products. It is best to try to keep these to a minimum in our daily diet. An additional problem with some of these foods is that they also contain a lot of fat so they can be major contributors to increases in body weight.
Milk and also some fruit and vegetables contain simple sugars (lactose and fructose respectively). However, in these foods, the sugars are not absorbed rapidly because there are other substances in these foods that prevent this. For example, the sugar in fruit (fructose) forms part of the fruit cell wall and is released slowly when digested.
Complex or starchy carbohydrates

Complex or starchy carbohydrates are molecules that are made up of many sugars joined together. Starchy carbohydrates are an important source of energy. Because the molecules are made up of many sugars, it takes longer for the molecules to be broken down in the stomach. This means that the sugars are released more slowly into the blood stream, avoiding unwanted peaks in blood sugar levels.
Starchy carbohydrates are the body's favourite fuel. This is because starch provides most of the glucose our body needs. Glucose is the preferred energy source for muscles and the other tissues and organs of the body. In fact, glucose is the only energy source the brain will use. Because of this it is vital that we have a regular intake of starch in order to help us meet our glucose needs.
Where are they found?

Good sources of starch are bread, oats, pasta, cereals, potatoes, beans, lentils, noodles, rice and fruit.

HANADI YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!

OT LisaMarie, but one of the scenes in the original Godzilla movie (the very first one) was filmed in the auditorium of my high school here, with the students of the school in it!! One of our teachers who was a student at that time said that she saw actors in monster suits resting with their head gear off between scenes. This was in 1954.

Ahhh, you're talking about The Peanuts, the twin sister singers. They were very popular singers in their heyday, though they've been retired for years now. Yes, I remember watching Godzilla vs Mothra, too.

GROUP HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

Ohhh girls god bless your hearts, you're the best support ever!!!

Lisa wow 10lbs!!!! this is really too much but you know I'm not amazed because in my worst TOM's I gained around 4kg's which is around your figure!!! I know the swelling feeling eekhhhh it's so ugly do you also feel that your fingures, hands, foot are like been tied with very tight rubber band and the blood, body fluids are trapped in them?? Sometimes they get so sore that even when I walk or jog I feel like my fingures will explode! Do you have the same feeling too?

Michele,
I'm slacking these days on the GYM, 2 weeks ago I worked out for +4 hours, I couldn't do more than 2 hours yesterday and the day before I feel guilty! on the other hand with the TMO bloating thing I've lost 1 1/2 kg's hehehe maybe when I finish my TMO I'll be surprised that I lost more! coooooool feeling!

Yesterday was my first time to attend Pilates class and OMG!!! I was a bit relactant about it because it was not the type I prefer! (my type is the hi-adrenaline fast sport) and the Pilates was more like Yoga/stretching and meditation! so for the sake of change I said hmmm y not! GIRLS this sport is not easy!! I found some difficulties doing what I call the 180 degree scissor position on the floor and lift the whole body balanced on your foor UGHHHHH my hips and thighs were pulling me down to the mantle and the core of the earth hehehehe I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!! I was the heaviest lady in the class and the instructor was really impressed by my flexibility and fitness I can bring my hips and thighs agaist my face (to strech my spinal cord!) it's sooooo stress releifing!!!!!!!!!aaahhhhhh

Kat,
hehehe you funny Tiger I love you girl!!! and thanks a lot for the supporting PM's!!! hey Kitty kat you've returned back to the GYM right? don't miss the gydro aerobics they have less impact on the joints and the back and they really shape and tone the body trust me!!

LisaMarie,
Wow never thought carbs are friendly or good! thanks a lot for the useful information honey. But I'd better keep the fight between me and the carbs because I know me either never eat it, or if I start one bite that's it I get drifted with the carb wave (I should say turnado!) because I know I cannot resist carbs

DocSanea
hehehe Godzilla...you know I always admire the Japanese with their infinate imagination about dragons, wars and organized armies and so on..sorry I'm not really good in that (it's not my type of movies).
But I remember when I was a kid I had a crush on a Japanese cartoon series called Grindizer?! does that ring a bill? the star's name was Dysky the toy market was flooded with his toy, he gets transformed to a rocket who fights UFO's and protect the earth from aliens I geuss hehehehe

wow didn't expect this post to get diverted to a lot of OT's hehehe

Loved your replies.
Happy posting
Hanadi
