Default Strawberry picking and the heat.

Today my sister and I went with my folks to pick strawberries in Jamestown. I was only intenting to pick a few pounds for myself just for fresh eating. I was so stiff in the back of my thighs from working in the garden. I have been doing alot of work in my garden from cultavating, transplanting tomatoes and some other plants, hoeing and weeding the garden. And watering the whole garden with a wand. It takes me over an hour to water my whole garden. The hose gets so heavy, becasue I have to pull that hose from one end of the garden to the other end and in threw the rows. And around the tires and tanks. So watering the garden becomes a pretty big chore every two days. So this should give you an idea why my legs are stiff and sore. Well I managed to pick a little over 12 pounds of strawberries. It was pretty hard towards the end, becasue of the bending over to pick strawberries. And from being so stiff from working at home in my garden. My family kept telling me to stop and that they will finish picking my strawberries for me and I said that I will manage to pick mine and then I went and helped my parents with their strawberries. I am thinking that I did pretty good picking all those strawberries, becasue before surgery, I stopped going to pick strawberries becasue I just could not do it anymore and the one time I did go a few years ago I was so pooped just picking about 5 pounds. Then the following year we had the people their pick our strawberries for us. That is one of the things they offer is to pick strawberries for the customer if you want them to and then you pay a much higher price for the straberries. This year I picked my own strawberries and all by myself and aslo helped my folks pick theirs.
Now here comes my bigger wow for me today. Ok when we got into the pickup my mother and sister were complaining how hot it is in the pickup and I said to them, you mean you are hot, then I said that I am actually a little cool in the pickup. They both looked at me like I was nuts. My sister said that it is 79 degrees in the pickup and it is hot. Then I said, now this is great, then they looked at me like I was getting nuttier by the minute. Then I told them that I was the one that was always so hot and would sweat buckets before surgery. Then I said it feels so good not for me to be the one that sweats so bad always. Then they knew what I meant and we all had a good laugh.
Getting back to the strawberries, oh my gosh are they so delicious, nothing better than a fresh picked strawberrys, yummy. I left a big bowl of them in the fridge and I cut up the rest and frooze them for this winter to enjoy, yum yum yum
I think you guessed it, that I will be nibbling on strawberries for the next few days.

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Oh Kitty, I'm so jealous! I need to find a place around here for that. I just bought another 2 lbs from the store, gotta be my 30th lb this year!
But great WOW's Kitty! I know you're sore, but it's from all the activity you can do now as opposed to before. It's amazing how unhealthy we were! And I know what you mean about the heat. I'm much cooler this summer!

Yum yum! It is blazin' hot here sometimes (near 100 degrees) and this is the first summer in a long time that I have not started sweating buckets as soon as I step out the door. I am always adjusting the a/c in the car and my husband says "what are you doing" I am like "I am freezing to death". I know exactly how you feel. You have come such a long way! I hear strawberries are good for those stalls so....eat up

Kelly, you and your son will have a blast picking strawberries and around here you can eat as many strawberries as you can while picking strawberries. I only ate one at the strawberry patch, becasue my pouch was not feeling the best yesterday. But the rest of them said that the strawberries was their breakfast in the starwberry patch. When we were picking strawberries yesterday there were alot of kids there and they all had so much fun there. My husband told me last night that he wants to go and pick more strawberries next week sometime and wants me to freeze more for this winter to enjoy.
Becka, I paid $ 1.30 a pound for the strawberries. Now if they pick them for you, then it cost $ 2.30 a pound. Then towards the end of the strawberry season they have the strawberries for a dollor a pound, that is if we pick them ourselves. But at the end of the season, the strawberries are not as nice. I have raised strawberries for a few years but they are so much work and hard to keep up with them. They have such a nice set up where we picked strawberries. They have thick straw between the rows and you do not get dirty shoes when you are picking strawberries and I seen most of the people crawling on the straw, around the strawberries on their knees picking strawberries. I stood the whole time picking strawberies becasue I have really bad knees. What was really nice which they did not do a few years ago when I picked strawberries, is that they will bring you a new box when yours is full and then they will take them and put my name on the box that is full of strwberries and then they take them up to the office and they put them in a huge cooler. So when you come to pay up they will pull all my strawberries out of the cooler and that way they are cool when you take them home. They have alot of people working for them, some are constantly walking back and forth with the strwberries that people picked and they will take you to the place where you are suppose to pick and you get this little red flag that they put on the box and when you are done picking then you just put the flag in the ground, so this way they know where you left off for the next set of people to start to pick where I left off. When you look accross the strawberry patch with all the people crawling on the floor picking strawberries, it looked like a bunch of ants on the floor. We all had so much fun yesterday and when we were tired and then we stood and visited for a while then we started to pick again. My family treasures this time we as a family have together. What wonderful memories I have of the things as a family that we do together.
