 |  WLS Poster Child!!
We went to the surgeon's today for my wife to see about having WLS. I talk more about that in my post in the Family forum, but it looks like it's gonna happen! I took a bit of extra care selecting my clothes for today. I was wearing a brand new flannel plaid shirt (size Small) and some good jeans (30" waist) and I looked pretty good, if I do say so! Great slimming effect! I felt good in these clothes, and didn't recognize myself in the mirror, so I was ready for my triumphal return!!
Anyway, you'd have thought I was a visiting rock star or something! Once they realized that I was one of their patients and not just a new patient's hubby, they were all over the place with me! I got weighed, my records were updated, and I wasn't even the patient! I talked with the nurses and told them that yes, I had been keeping my appointments as scheduled, yes, I had been following their orders rigorously, and yes, you better believe I was really having fun with my new life!! And answered all their other questions, too.
We were in the exam room when the doc came in. He came over to me and said "Hi, I'm Dr. Chute" and I said "I know, you operated on me last year." The double-take I got from him was well worth it all!! He examined my wife, but he wanted to hear all about how I was doing and how I was doing it. After he had taken care of her (part of the reason he was so quick to approve her is the support system she has in place) he started looking at my records. He pulled up my "before" pictures to look at. (They weren't really the most flattering I've ever had taken!!) I had a hard time remembering how that obese slob felt, but from his expression, life wasn't wonderful for the poor guy. He recognized me from the before shots, but he never would have put my face with that guy's!
As we were talking with the receptionist setting up the next steps, another nurse stuck her head in to see me. She'd heard that she just had to see me, and I got the obligatory oohs and ahhs from several more of them before we left.
I guess it's not common for a patient to come in having lost so much so quickly, but they were all amazed by what I had done. Combined with my wife's visit, all in all it was a great day!!

Isn't it great?? I love going to my surgeon's office....they ALWAYS have before pics in hand, as the nurse told me sometimes, they would never recognize the patients who come in a year out....they parade me up/down the halls and always have me talk to new patients to encourage them. It's a wonderful feeling and you are to be commended on it!!
