| My Bucket List Just Got Shorter Well WL family, I had another family reunion yesterday. I'll admit, this one was great!! We were at a park community center that was surrounded by trees and Kerr Lake. We were able to take strolls, walk to the water, lay outside, the kids had games, and the weather was perfect. I had already decided what I was going to eat, and I was going to bring food home for the next few days. When I fixed my plate, everyone already knew it would be smaller, but they were surprised when I couldn't even eat all that I had on it. My mother sat across from me, and I can't remember the last time my mother ate more food that me!! My father was so concerned that he asked me "you didn't eat too much did you??" or "are you OK?" I told him that's one thing he didn't have to worry about. Dumping at home is bad enough; who wants to dump in front of 80+ family members...... My family was amazed at my weight loss. The ones that saw me in July who didn't know about the surgery asked this time what I was doing. Those who did know about the surgery just wanted to see what I looked like. And my aunt was the funniest when she walked up to me and said, "excuse me, can I introduce myself. I'm Laura, and you would be.....??" . Then she just stood back and looked at me in amazement. My uncle took numerous pictures and said he was going to send some to his daughter in Wisconsin because she hasn't seen me in over a year. I can hear her now -- "is THAT my COUSIN??!!!!!!" But, back to my bucket list. My list changes every so often, but right now I want to ride a motorcycle, go horseback riding, and go hiking. My cousin's boyfriend has a Red Wing motorcycle. If you're like me, you don't know the difference in the cycles, and all I know is these are some of the top of the line motorcycles. His back seat makes you feel like you are in a car. But he let me ride with him, and it was SO MUCH FUN!!!! Now, I wouldn't want to ride for 3-4 hours on a bike; we rode about 6-8 miles, around some curves, slow and fast speeds, and I had a good time. His bike was so nice that we were having conversations on the highway and it was clear, and the radio was clear too, and the helmets had microphones built in them. My uncles were so shocked at me that when we drove up, 2 of them had their cameras out saying they had to take pictures because people would not believe them if they told them I was on a bike. My parents were sitting outside when we left, and didn't realize what I was doing. When we drove off, both of them were like "is that OUR daughter" Fortunatley, the weater was perfect, and there was a slight breeze going, and I enjoyed every minute of it!! I talked with one of my uncles and he asked me why I wanted to ride. I told him that when you're over 300 pounds, there are some things you either can't do or are too embarrassed to do. He stopped in his tracks, shocked because he never realized I ever weighed over 300 pounds. I assured him that my highest weight was 337, and he had seen me plenty of times at that weight. Just like everyone else, he was pleased with my success and how I'm looking now. Now I need to find me a horse ranch and ride a horse. I'm sure that as I continue to lose weight, my bucket list will continue to grow . Sorry to ramble; I just got started and kept going......

From your description, I think you were on a Gold Wing. Honda makes that, and used to make a Silver Wing, but I'm not familiar with the Red Wing. (Sounds like safety shoes! )
I was out riding this morning, too. Peanut absolutely REFUSES to ride with me. (Something about throwing her off the back on a mountain in Arizona a quarter-century ago or some such thing ... )
Riding is a whole lot more fun now that I'm not carrying that 120 pound "internal passenger". I'm glad you got to ride and that you had a great experience!!
You are in some of the most beautiful mountains for hiking there are in this country. Give it a month or so and you'll have the fall colors. Head up to the Asheville area and you'll find no shortage of pretty places to spend a few hours or days. Nice thing about NC vs. Utah is that you don't have to worry about running out of oxygen at your elevations!
Lots of good trail information here - Hiking in Western North Carolina - HIKEWNC.info.
Ain't life fun?!?!?

CT | CT, life is definitely fun!!!! And you are right, it was a Gold Wing. A Red Wing, LOL !! I must have been tying too fast, and got ahead of myself. At least somebody understood what I was trying to say. Thanks for the link for the mountains. I've actually been to Asheville & Hendersonville area a few times, but of course never thought of hiking (who wants to hike weighing over 300 pounds??!!) I may have to get back up there the beginning of November and spend a little time .
