NOW mind your pre op ...my blood pressure was dangerously high...and i almost had my surgery cancelled for it riseing so badly ( i had good reason
of my dad passing away)...so today
my blood pressure was
89/59.....
Not sure if thats too low...

| i am so sorry about your father friend.
i guess i've always been lucky and never had high blood pressure, if anything at times my dr. has said it was lower than he expected of someone my size and was good. every once in a while my cholesterol goes up but until this past week not enough to put on meds. now i have high enough cholesterol to be put on medication, that seems weird to me since i have been watching what i eat closer now than ever before?
congrats on the lower blood pressure friend. i hope that i am able to go off of the meds after the surgery. not just the cholesterol ones but the diabetes, and maybe even my sleeping pills and my narcolepsy ones.

Lisa,
I had high blood pressure before surgery. It was one of the reasons I pursued this surgery. My dad died very young, at age 58, from Heart Disease/High Blood Pressure related things.
I was not good at taking my BP meds, and when I went in for my pre op testing, it was SOOOOOOOOO HIGH the nurse told me they would prob cancel my surgery. I went straight to my PCP, and went back on my meds. It came down a bit before surgery, but not much. Anyway, they did the surgery, and i was on IV BP meds while in the hospital.
I stopped taking my meds shortly after my surgery. then, about 2 months ago, i went in for a physical, and after loosing close to 100 pounds, my BP was still high. I am a bit disappointed that I am back on meds, but my pcp said some people just have high BP.........and it may not be weight related.
So, I am still on my meds, and it is ok now at about 100/70 or 80, as long as i stay on my meds. So, that is what I will ahve to to .
I am glad yours is stable, and low. S

Hi SHH,
One of my best friends from HS was a cheerleader, homecoming queen, always perfect body...you get the drift. When she was in her early 30's she developed high BP and went on meds as well as had to speed walk. Your right, it's not always the weight. Today I bet she weighs within 10#s of graduation weight, which was (OMG :{}) 30 years ago.

Lisa, the normal range for systolic pressure (the higher number) is 139-90, and the diastolic pressure (the lower number) is below 90, so, yes, the 89 is just under. However, these self measure things tend to come out 10 or so lower than the actual number, so you'd be in the right range. Very good!!
SHH, if you had kept your weight, you would have found your blood pressure rising even more, and needing more and stronger medication. You would have never been able to achieve the present control you have with your blood pressure without your weightloss. So, it has worked for you, just that your genetic disposition towards hypertension is stronger, so you still need some medication. It's better than having to down a palmful of medication and getting only moderate control over your blood pressure, isn't it? everyone, on your WOW moments!!

the only way i remember to take my vitamins and supplements
and meds when needed is by useing a 7 day pill planner.
THIS way i know when i missed it !!!!
I find it helps me alot!
SURE i feel like a senior but i know a few times i thought
i took my vitamin and by checking the pill box seven day

SO it helps. I imagine it cant be good to not take the blood

Every morning when I get up I take my lil tupperware smidgie and fill it with the needed days pills/vitamins and just carry it with me through the day until they are all gone. A good day for me is one where I eat at least four times, and take all my pills and don't puke. Today I am working on that good day. I think I will acheive it....ps...hubby snuck in two m&m's into my vitamin container and I had to laugh over that one. I told him that they had 27g of sugar per serving and were not allowed, but thanks anyways.
