Default Off a Kids Menu

We moved the rest of our daughters things to our farm until they get a house where they live now. So our daughter and her husband took us out for dinner. We went to a truck stop cafe. I did not know what to order and my daughter and I kept on asking eachother what we were planning on ordering. I let my daughter go first and she ordered some kind of pork patty with sourkraut and somethig else was on it. She said it was good. When it came to my turn I ordered a two piece chicken strip and a bowl of beef veg. soup. I did not even notice that it was off a kids menu when I ordered it and the waitress mentioned that it is on a kids menu. Then I asked her if it was ok to order my meal from a kids menu and she said that was fine. She looked at me a little strange, the way I gather she thought I would not get enough to eat and she asked me if that is all I want. Well I only ate half of the soup and I cut all the sides and ends off the chicken strips and ate the rest becasue the middle was hardly no breading on it. When I ate the soup I ate the veg. and beef out of it and let the juice stand. I gave all my fries to my husband. I was so stuffed and the chicken strips were pretty small till I was done trimming the breading off. From now on when we go to a restraunt I am going to order off a kids menu if they let me. The kids meal is even to big for me now.

Does anyone else order of a kids menu? I am curious.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I do this all the time...or a seniors menu....my surgeons office even gave us cards to present at restaurants, telling them our stomachs had been surgically reduced and to please allow us to order from the childrens or seniors menu! (I like the seniors menu, as the kids menu is usually LOADED in fat)

I think someone actually posted one of their cards like this on the boards!

I know some surgeona will give out cards to your patients asking eating places to let them order from kids menus because of their surgery.
Ask your surgeon's office if they have such a card, that should make it easy for you to order form kiddie's menus.

Good job with your eating, I see you are setting up very good habits.

It Depends Because Some Kids Menus Dont Always Have Healthy Things On It. I Always See Chicken Nuggets, Mac And Cheese, Hotdogs, Etc Etc So I Will Either Look At The Appetizer Menu Or Just Order The Meal And What Ever Is Left Then So Be It. If Do See Somthing Healthy From A Kids Menu Then Sure I Would

Our (hubby just had lapband) surgeon has not given us a card. We figured we could split a plate when we go out to eat. There are some places that will charge you for an extra plate tho. I do know that Cracker Barrel will let anyone order from the kids menu and it is more than enough food too.

I have been in places that won't let me order from the kids menu but most will let me order from the senior one - since I am one lol - my husband and I ususally split a meal as do mysister and I.

I just usually order appetizers ...I've gotten to a point over the years I don't even think twice about asking for a to go box when they bring the food and go ahead and put 1/2 in the box and just don't think about it beyond that.

it's terrible to admit but I often just throw food away..I've had to get used to leaving food behind or throwing it away.

That's what I'm waiting for is to order off the kids menu. A couple of people in support group have said that not all places will allow you to do it, but if it's a reputable establishment and they want to keep your business, then they will. One of the ladies said that when the waitress told her "no", even after showing her the medical card, she got up to leave, but let the manager know what was happening. He invited her back in and gave her the kids meal for free.
