Default Weight Loss Has Slowed A Lot!! Suggestions?

Hi everyone! I am a little more than three months out and I feel like my weight loss is slowing to a snail's pace. I've definitely lost a significant amount already, and my hair is starting to fall out as proof *ugh ... but most recently my weight loss is going much slower ... like a few pounds a week. I work out 5 days per week and then I swim afterwards. I still struggle to get all my protein in, though, and I think my caloric intake is still quite low. I've heard that the metabolism slows significantly in sort of safe mode when the calories aren't there to preserve what is taken in. Does this sound like it could be my problem? Any suggestions?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I'm only 4 weeks post-op, so I do not know much about the rate weight comes off...but I did want to mention that I read that book 'weight loss surgery for dummies' and it said yes some people start to have hair loss, but that it comes back later. So at least that's good news, right?

I know that I'm not there yet, but I think that losing a few lbs a week isn't bad and I wouldn't consider it a problem. With no surgery, docs recommend losing 1-2 lbs a week and you're doing double that. I think you've done an amazing job and great job on the exercise! I wish I had that ambition!

Also, maybe you are actually eating too little. Maybe your body needs more fuel. I remember reading about how we should think of our bodys as a furnace. If you keep throwing paper (empty calories) there is no fire, and if you only put a log on every few hours, there is no fire. But small meals, spaced out, keeps the fire (metabolism) going. Good luck and congratulations for how far you've come!

Thank you all for responding! I know that doctors recommend 2 lbs a week in normal weight loss, but with all the exercise and the small amount of food I'm able to consume ... I was hoping for a bigger result. I guess I feel like if things have to be so hard still, I'd like to see a bigger reward. A huge amount of my weightloss happened soon after surgery, as in within the first month and since then it gets slower and slower each week.

I'm going on a huge trip overseas in a few months and I, of course, hope to look as good as possible when I go so I'm just a little bummed today. It's funny how I've progressed from feeling so miserable at the beginning and not caring at all about my appearance, only wanting to feel better ... to loving myself again when I look in the mirror and celebrating every time I drop a dress size.

Anyway ... thank you again everyone!

Carrie

you will go thru periods where your weightloss will slow down and sometimes you will even stall at one weight for awhile, it can be very discouraging, i have been this this many times, but as long as you stick to the plan and keep up with the exercize you will see results. you are doing a fabulous job so far keep it up girl!!

strap yourself in and get ready for a bumpy ride!!! You will have plenty of stalls...then you will whoosh...then you may bounce...stick to the plan, and the pouch will bail you out in the end!!

Boy, wish I was still losing a few lbs. a week I have been stuck for about a month now and lost 1 lb in the last few days. My surgeon said this is to be expected, just keep doing what you know is right.

This has happened to me a lot. I was stuck at -75lbs for 3 weeks. Then all of a sudden it started falling off. I think we all go through little times where we have no weight loss. It will start to come off. Don't worry, just eat how you need to and exercise and it will come off.
