| My surgery is Tuesday!!
After all of these weeks of waiting, my surgery date is almost here (February 26). I am so excited. I have done all of my grocery shopping for the first week or so and will be packing my bag tonight.
I have not been online since 2/9!! My life has been crazy the last few weeks with our son and his fiance moving in with us. It has been a huge adjustment but I like the girl so all is well here and now I can focus on me.
I have gone back and forth over the past couple of weeks wondering if I was really doing the right thing (in having the surgery). This is a MAJOR change but I have finally come to a place where I know that this is good for me. After all, if I could have done this on my own I would have done it a long time ago.
The only thing that bothers me is what my co-workers will think. I am not sure why it matters. I have only told one person at work who I know will keep my secret. I do not want to share this with anyone else there but when the weight starts falling off I am sure that there will be a lot of talk.
I have a personal trainer lined up for when I can do more than just walk. Its all about me and that feels really good.
Can anyone tell me how long it was before you went back to work? I have a lot of pressure to get back as soon as possible.

Congrats on your date for Tuesday. I know this is a very exciting time and anxious time also.
For the last several years I have seen several co-workers have RNY surgery. One decided not to tell any of us and told us that she was having gallbalder surgery. Then 2 other co-workers had it done and were pretty open about it. I know what any of these people did in their personal life was none of my business but I did consider them friends. So when the first one literally lied to us I felt I couldn't trust her anymore. Now years later I also has surgery last month and I decided to let people know and I am happy that I did. But in the end it is your choice.
I returned back to work at 4 weeks just last Thursday. It was hard and I got tired easy but I made it through. My surgeon really left it up to me to decide when to return. By the third week off I was bouncing off of the walls.
Good luck on Tuesday.

WOW, your surgery is almost here! I told my co-workers about my surgery and they have been very supportive. I was out of work for 6 weeks. I found that I was tired alot and there was no way I was going to make it through a 12 hour workshift. Try not to feel pressured to go back earlier than you are ready. This time really is for you to heal and come to terms with all the changes in your new lifesyle.
I'll be praying for an easy surgeryand uneventful hospital stay for you.
Laurie

| Congrats and good luck with your surgery on Tuesday. Mine is in one week, the 3rd and I like you, have been doing a lot of wondering the last week or so if I'm doing the right thing. The only thing is, I know that I'm doing the right thing, because without the surgery, I probably won't be around in 7 years because of health issues. You're very correct, if we could have done it on our own, it would have been done years ago or, it wouldn't even be an issue because we wouldn't have ended up where we are. I've told everyone and much to my surprise, all I've gotten is support and a lot of love from all my family, friends and co-workers. Again, good luck, can't wait to hear how you're doing.

Thanks Amina!!! She said it all for me. The first 2 days were hard, but I'm doing great now! We had some issues with what 'light duty' meant and they had me standing all day my first day back. That lasted about 4-5 hours and it really whipped my butt.
Now it's straightened out and I'm great, admitting patients only and used to it. I had no extra time either, but it all worked out ok. Now I'm almost 4 weeks out and forget that I'm still fresh post-op!
