Unhappy Down in the Dumps!

Has anyone experienced a little depression post op. I am 5 1/2 months post op and today I am feeling down. I really haven't experienced this yet. I have never had a problem with depression. I am not even sure if I am depressed today. I am just feeling low. Is this normal? What can i do to help this? I am going to work out and see if that help! Thanks for listening!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Well I have had depression for years and even though I'm on meds and mostly upbeat, there are days when I still get down. It's a sucky feeling, but it passes. I was told that there is a risk for depression following surgery and to stay on my meds for a while. I take wellbutrin. If it gets worse or lasts a long time, I'd go see a doc and see what he/she thinks you should do.

We all go through our ups and downs. To be honest I miss food sometimes. I wish sometimes that I can eat like everyone else eat and that gets me really down. But after a while it goes away, after I think about it I know why I did this and it goes away. It comes and goes. Things will pick up for you.

Yes its normal. Most of us...... had bouts with it before this surgery. I have noticed alot of us have bouts with it after. Some are more extreme than others. You goning to excerise is a good mood booster they say. Take it a day at a time........ it always gets better.

been there. and if you feel you need help please dont hesitate to ask. i got so low i used to just sit and cry. then i went to the dr and asked for help and got lexapro which was GREAT. i felt like i was under a dark cloud and now its not so dark. in fact i am weaning off it as we speak. please dont hesitate to ask for help if you feel you cannot come out of it on your own.

Exercise releases *happy* hormones and help you when you're down in the dumps.
You will get roller coaster emotions post op, because it's hard to adjust to the new life, the new changes in image you are going through, and the change in attitude towards you that some of your friends and co-workers can have.
If it gets too hard for you to manage, it's best to get professional help.
If good exercise works as a mood booster for you, then it most likely isn't really all that bad.
