| Newbie | Hi There, My wls Febuary 1, 2006 My starting weight was 291. and I have lost 76 pounds. My husband and kids are very supportive. They have been rooting for me every step of the way. Unfortunately there is only so much that they can do. I have hit a plateu. I have only lost 4 pounds in the past month. Though it does seem that I have lost inches. My clothes are fitting looser again. I am still discourged. The past week I have felt like I have lost all that I am going to lose. Does anybody have any advice on how to get past this plateau. Thanks, Shrinks |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | FIRST OFF SHIRNKS!!! HUGS!!!! PLATEAUS stink!!!! YOU are by no means DONE looseing! As long as your following the rules of your NEW tool you will start to loose again. I am little over 1 year out. I lost the most rapidist the first 6 months. then it tapered a little more the next six! Its normal. looseing 4 pounds in the last month i hate to admit is not a plataue. A plataue is when you dont loose any weight at all for 4 to 6 weeks. ABOUT that time is when i started looseing that per month...some months a drop more .... ITS hard but your doing fabulous! DID you ever loose that much weight before that quick! DONT be hard on your self. WATCH all your carb intakes. keep your protein up and drink lots of water and you will continue to loose. ITS also a very emotional journey! I never understood why i got hit with blues time and time again...sometimes we figure the weight loss should make us so happy and it doesnt. HANG in there! your going to loose more its not done but it will slow down some from the first 6 months of looseing thats the pattern we all follow

| WLS Master Guru | Hey shrinks. Congratulations on your success so far. You are doing so great. Hey, these little stalls happen. I know how frustrating they can be. But, like Lisa said, keep doing what you know you are doing right. You know the inces are coming off..........and that happens to me, too, in between pounds coming off. In fact, it is when the scale seems to not be moving that most people notice that I am losing weight. So, it is time when the body is reshaping. Make sense???? Keep up the great work, and I hope to see you here often. S |

| Super Moderator | ((((((((HUGS)))))))) Welcome to the board, shrinks, thank you for joining us here. You have done marveously and are still doing marvelously!! You may be slowing down right now, but it's only for right now. Losing by surgery and losing the amount you have lost in this short time is a major event for your body. It needs to align itself to prepare for the next stage of losing. One other factor is, the body responds to large weightloss by readjusting itself so it needs less calories to do the same work. To prevent this, and to urge the body to lose more, what works it to actually UP your in take a little. For WLSers, protein seems to work best for this. Up your protein intake by 50-100 cals--about 12-25g--and increase your exercise load along with this. May your journey go well.

| Newbie | Thank You-- I apprciate the feedback and the support . For some people 6 months may seem like six months for me it seems like an eternity. I knew all the facts going into this I not sure weather it's a bit of depression or just being a bit hard on myself maybe a combination of the both. I know that i am in this for the long haul. No turning back after you have major surgery.......is there!!! Thank again for the support and information Shrinks |
