Unhappy New to this board, but not to surgery

Hello to everyone! I am so glad that I found this website. I had my Roux en Y surgery in January of 1999. At this time, I don't have insurance, so I have had no one to turn to with my questions until now. I went from 280lbs to 160lbs. I was doing and feeling great, then went through a bad divorce, remarried, and had a child almost two years ago. During my pregnancy, my eating habits went bad, and I gained 40 lbs. I can't seem to shake them now. I believe that I have stretched my stomach out again. My metabolism seems as if it has shut down on me. I don't have anyone in my family or small circle of friends to get advice from on this one. I need easy exercise programs, eating guides, and motivation! I hope to hear from you soon, and best wishes to everyone out there!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us. I hope you'll find this a comfy and homey place for you.

First off, have you given FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal a try? Many post ops use this site to watch their in-out in calories.
Review the pouch rules, and compare it with your present eating habits and patterns.
Remember to eat your proteins first.
One method post ops often use to get back on track is go back to the basic and the starting point-- go back and start with pure liquids for one week, then pureed for one week, soft food for 1-2 weeks, then move back slowly to regular food, always protein first-- go through the post op diet again.
For a general guide in figuring out how much to eat this article may help you as a starting point.

For excersise, daily walking is good for starters. Rigorous housework (not the easy, just vaccuum the rugs, but dust and polish and shine type) is good exercise, too. I saw somewhere advice on how to turn playing with small children an exercise, but I can't remember where...anyway, physical activity with your child will be good exercise, too, done the right way, like running and chasing and making a game out of it, or going swimming in the pool, or just plain carrying your child. If you are the gym type, working out at the gym is a great help.

(((((HUGS)))))) Good luck.

Thank you so much! I was never given the "pouch rules" when I had my surgery, there was a lot of info there that I had never heard before. Mainly I was just told to eat high protein, low sugar, low fat. Also, to use things like nutra sweet whenever possible. Obviously, a lot of things have changed since my procedure. Again, I'm so glad that I found this place.

Hey Bajasbaby...I am sorry that I have been neglecting this section..but welcome to the board. I am sure that there is a lot more information out there now versus when you had the procedure. I am hoping that you are able to get some good info here and that it helps you re lose that extra weight.
