Smile Hello to All!

I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I'm from Louisiana and had open gastric bypass June 9...I've been looking everywhere on the internet for information and--luckily--came across this site! It seems wonderful! Things for me have gone quite well, much better than I had anticipated. The only problem I'm having is that my incision has not fully healed. I still have a few slight openings that are leaking, but my doctor said that it was perfectly normal. I still have a small amount of pain, but that gets a little better everyday. I have NOT weighed yet, but I am starting to notice weight loss in the way that my clothes fit. On June 9, I weighed in at 257 pounds, would love to get down to 150!!! I'm really looking forward to sharing with others on this site!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome on the board,

I did my RNY gastric bypass open too! I did it last April 18th. It took me hmm almost 6 weeks to get the wound healed completely! in fact I had small infection because the wound was discharging dissolved fat from the belly section I believe and the surgeon opened up some of the stetches to help the leeking up process, I was partially opened for almost 1 1/2 week and finally got it closed.
I'm now on my 3 month post op, have lost almost ~50lbs it's up and down +/-1.5 lbs because of my period time! but if time gets back I'll do this procedure all over again.
I'm lighter, healthier, happyer, name it! all +ve things in your mind in (er) format hehehehe
I'm very happy for you, feel home this is really the place you and I and all WLS people would look for

Hi and welcome. Sounds like your doing great.
I had lap RNY on 5/17 and the last scab dropped off last week! I had called the Dr. at 7 weeks to see if it was normal and they told me not to worry.
Stick around and meet people here...everyone is really great. Lots of support and ideas. Glad to meet you!

Red face Many thanks!

Thanks to all for the great "welcome" you sent my way! I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone through his/her posts. My incision is looking better today, I think it's actually going to heal one day!! (Ha Ha) It was good to hear from others who also experienced trouble with incisions. I'm going to the doctor this Thursday, will weigh and get picture taken. It will be my 6 week check up...the first time in MANY years that I'm actually looking forward to getting on the scales. I'm still learning about my computer...will post some pictures as soon as my daughter shows me how. Take care, everyone, and thanks again for the warm welcome!

Welcome Sandino... I am glad that you found us. My name is Janae and I had my Lap RNY done on April 4th. So far I have lost 70 lbs and can fit into a size 16 pants when I used to wear a size 26. I look forward to seeing your pictures and seeing you get a ticker going to track your progress with us.
