Ok let me first say that WOW WOW and WOW. I had my surgery on the first. Had to have emergency surgery on the 2nd and was released on friday. I was weak, had heartburn and really didnt want to eat anything. Today around 4 it just went away. No more soreness...well I no long feel like something is sticky to my stomach nor do I have the heartburn or feeling that something is about to fall out.
PLUS....I gained 11lbs due to the double dose of carbon dioxide. Well I am happy to report I am down to 204lbs. Does anyone have any quick recipes with protein?
Thanks
Rosemary

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

This soon after surgery, protein is going to be from liquid protein shakes. Normal protocol is for a liquid diet the first 1-2 weeks, then some soft foods, about 2 oz at a time. It's too early to be thinking about recipes. Most surgeons and bariatric surgery centers give out printed sheets with proposed diets for the first several weeks.

Congratulations on joining the Loser's Bench.
You had a somewhat rough time, so you need to take things easy.
The first thing you need to do is keep yourself hydrated. Don't worry about protein right now, if you can't get it in protein drinks, or soup broth, or whatever that will count towards liquids as well. Start the rest of the protein slowly and keep it at the pace pouch agrees with you.
Please don't forget, even if the incisions on your skin heals, you had major surgery inside, and needed a repair to boot, so your insides will be taking time in healing--it will take 3-4 months until it heals completely and the functions have adjusted.
((((((HUGS)))))) May your journey go well.

It does sound like a bumpy start ~ but also that things are looking up! We are so full of IV fluids I initially came home from the hospital 10 # heavier than when I went in! As your body begins adjusting and figuring out what the heck you did to it, the weight will start sliding off, focus on your liquids, You might like to try the EAS protein from Walmart - I was able to tolerate it immediately post op and did will for a bit with it, comes in ready to drink and powder. I read about people mixing flavors but I never cared about that, just went for chocolate initially. Follow your docs rules carefully so your insides get fully recovered before you get too spunky! Congrats on arriving on the loser's bench ~ we'll be celebrating your milestones before you know it!

Welcome to the site, sorry to hear that you had a rough start. Things do get better one day at a time. I did just liquids for the first 2 weeks after surgery and I wasn't to creative with my protein powders.
