Hello everyone, I have been following your stories for quite some time as I considered my weight loss options. Bypass surgery scared the heck out of me, but the prospect of not living long due to my weight was worse. Doctors I trusted had been asking me to look into it for a few years; I found your site, learned what I could and researched.
Here I am, excited and nervous, and it can't happen soon enough. I was injured at work in 2000, forced to retire February 1, 2008, and at my retirement luncheon this coming week some will see me for the first time in four years and 130 pounds heavier. I plan on announcing my surgery to them that day and my extended family right after that.
My wife and two daughters support me in this journey and I've done my best to make them aware of some of the short term and life long changes I am making. I've taken "Before" measurements, but have yet to take a "Before" photograph.
So all that is left is the hospital pre-admission testing, all major tests and evaluations are complete. I hope nothing last minute screws up the schedule, because I just want to get losing!
