Default Well.. I've started the process!!!

I went to my seminar a week ago Wednesday and found it informative in some areas, but I knew a lot of info from research in a lot of other areas. Basically, their specific procedures and how they do things at this doctors office was what I needed to know.

I saw my PCP this past Wednesday and he filled out my paperwork and faxed it to the Bariatric Center I'm going to which let them know I was entering their program. Just waiting to hear from the Nutritionist for my scheduled 3 hour seminar with her now. My PCP gave me the green light with 100% support. He said he thought I was a good candidate, that I would succeed, I was doing it for the right reasons and I should pass everything with flying colors. That was good to hear.

I have an appt April 30 to have my galbladder u/s to make sure I don't have stones, or to see if I do. If I do, they'll remove it during surgery, if I don't, I'll take the meds to keep from getting stones after surgery.

I have a consult appt set up with a sleep study coordinator for May 22 to determine if I need a sleep apnea test. I do snore heavily and I wake up tired. The Bariatric coordinator said if you had these symptoms to get the sleep study because if they discovered I have sleep apnea closer to surgery, it could get cancelled.

I also called my Insurance company and as it stands right now, they do not require a 6 month Nutrition following, but it'll really be based on past history. My Dr. thinks they won't require it and i"ll just do the 2 month Nutrition course with the Bariatric Center. A 3 hour seminar followed 30 days later with a 30 min appt followed 30 days later with another 30 min appt.

So... that's it so far. I'm actually excited about all this.

I'm sure you didn't need to know all this... I'm just so jittery and excited I typed it all out. LOL

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I had sleep apnea for over 10 years prior to surgery. I wouldn't think this would stop the surgery, but it may alter the anesthesia medications used. I know when I had a coloscopy about 3 years ago, (pre RNY surgery date), the anesthesiologist told me that they would give me a slightly different meds for the procedure because I had sleep apnea. The hospital where I had my RNY done had a CPAP machine I could use, and I brought my CPAP mask to the hospital for the 2 night stay. Good luck.
