Unhappy Where O' Where Did My Energy Go?!

Hello Everyone,

For the past few days I have had no energy at all. I have felt so sluggish and tired all the time. I'm almost too tired to eat or drink. Is this normal? I have tried to think about things I have done differently these past few days. The one thing I have realized is I'm not drinking as many protein supplements as I had been. I don't know what it is, I think I'm just tired of them. I'm so sick of everything tasting so sweet. Most of my protein drinks are choclate flavored and so very sweet. Please does anyone have any advice?

Thanks!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

what stage of food are you in....? Try doing more of your protein with food versus supplements....that might help....are you drinking plenty of fluids? I would say if the problem persists, contact your surgeon!

Not sure about the low energy - how many grams of protein ARE you getting?? But the stage you are at - sick of sweet, so very normal and right about the time we all felt that way. Try a little V8, no protein but a nice change. Chicken and beef broth have protein, have you tried the 'unjury' chicken broth protein packets?

I'm in the pureed food stage. Honestly I just can't do pureed meats. I have tried and I just don't like it. I go to my surgeon on Tuesday for what will be my six week post op. I have done so good up till this week and I think I'm just getting bored with the same things over and over again. I know it is important to get my protein in, but I'm having trouble with everything tasting sweet. I can't stand it anymore!

I know it's hard, but it's only a little longer at this stage - by 8 - 9 weeks I was starting to branch out...chili from Wendys, baked fish (made moist!), meatballs (careful with the sauce), peanut butter, fat free cream cheese...
Protein is sooooo important - especially while you are in the healing phase.

((((HUGS))))
You need the required amounts of protein, because our body have daily protein turnover of about 35-50gs. If you can't get in the 60g protein you need, your body is going to break down your muscles to provide the necessary protien to keep your body moving. (Yes, you need some protein to keep your body moving, not just carbs.) Your protein store is already depleted some from the period immediately post op when you couldn't get much in, except keep up with fluids so as not to dehydrate. You need to replenish this diminished stock, as well as keeping up with the daily turnove.
If you slack on protein now, the depletion is going to take a toll on you.

Hang in there, hope you feel better soon.

Yes i went through a phase with no energy at all...I wasnt drinking enough water at that time. Its hard to remember to get everything in we need, its hard work but very important. I used tofu alot at the early stages as well as soft cheeses...just do your best and remember to take all your vitamins and supplements as well,. You can do it!

Try changing to a vanilla shake, that way you can change the flavors around as needed. That worked really well for me. Good Luck.

Try cottage cheese or cream cheese, low fat peanut butter (but watch the fat grams! too much and you will be sooooo sorry), how about scrambled egg whites with some cheese melted in and maybe a drop of tabasco sauce to liven it up.

Refried beans were my best friend. I'd microwave it with some cheese and a dab of green chillis and felt like I was getting a good mexican meal.

I'm with you, I hated the sweet protien drinks and got away from them as fast as I could. I get all of my protien from food now.
