Default Introducing Myself

My name is Dawn and I live in Pennsylvania with my husband and am old to weight loss surgery and but also new. Meaning it's been mentioned to me in the past and I always declined even the idea of it, but I'm new to it now because I've had a change of heart about it and have been seriously researching it.

I personally don't know anyone who has had it done, but my sister knows someone who did and my cousin many people who did, and none of them regret having it done. Hearing their stories/seeing some of their pics helped to inspire me.

Right now, I'm interested in reading everyone's stories, seeing pictures and I'd especially like to hear from women who have had WLS who went on to have children. I will share more of my information at a later date.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

WELL THEN you found a great place to begin learning of WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY! I had my surgery june 1, 2005. I lost 143 lbs and I am now in total great health. I had no complication at the time of surgery.

I dont regret my choice to have this surgery. IN the profile forum of this board you can find my pics as well as on the page banners. LOOK forward to getting to know you more thru your posts and feel free to ask anything you want. FOR me when i finally made the choice to do weight loss surgery the health risks i had at 310 pounds out wayed the risks from the surgery. THE surgery today is far less complicated as it used to be being its done lapriscopically now.

SO read the boards and welcome!

Welcome to the board, Probate.
Thank you for joining us.
Yes, take a good look around, and do a lot of research before you decide what is best for yourself.
Surgery is no easy way out, it involves a complete change in your life style, both physical and emotional. This is just a tool to set you on the right track, a method, and by no means the end. After the first objective--weight loss-- of the surgery is accomplished, it is only your strength and will that keeps you where you have arrived.
Good luck in your search and research, may your journey go well,
((((((((HUGS)))))))))

Welcome Dawn!!! (from another Dawn) I am trying to get approved myself, I do not plan on having any more children (i already have 3 beautiful children) however I do know of some that have had children after WLS and went on to be very sucessful at it. Heavy weight is often times reason for not being able to get pregnant. A lady that I know had WLS and was pregnant soon after her target weight. She and her husband plan to have more. Good luck!! It is a hard decision, I have been toying with the idea for almost 2 yrs. I am so glad I made this decision.

Dawn

Hi, I am still pre- op I just got my surgery date. I was told that if I got pregnent now I would be High risk from the start. I am only 27 and have no children, 18-24 months after surgery I plan to get pregnent. I only want 1 child and then after that If I need any plastic surgery I will have it done then, not before getting pregnent though. Hopefully with any luck I wont need anything except to loose this weight. Today I am 299 lbs, and I would love to be 290 for surgery. I am working on it slowly and exercising daily. My preop weight loss will help me during surgery, I cant wait to see the doctor again on 9/1 he will be shocked at my weight loss. Good luck to you.
