Default Ideal Weight??

Went to surgeon yesterday and all seems fine. I *may* have an ulcer so I am back on prilosec just in case. I have now officially lost 90 pounds- woo hoo!

So now for the discouraging part. According to the chart at my docs office my ideal weight is 140-145. WHAT!? I weighed 155 in high school and was not overweight, played sports, and was in excellent physical shape. (I was even the only girl to win the presidential fitness award)

So....how can 140-145 be an ideal weight for my structure? I am not a small girl minus all the fat I am big boned and have a lot of muscle- heck my Dad was a football linebacker and I got his build!

I put 165 as my goal weight which I thought was even a little far fetched since I will have skin weight. (I would be happy at 175!) So how do I get to an "ideal" weight that seems "ideal" for my body? Also taking in account we will have skin weight. Is there a WLS weight chart!?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

i dunno. im finding these charts are a crock! lol. the surgeons usually go higher than what all the others say. i dontknow. i fought against it for so long and now that i am where i am i am beginning to realize higher is the way to go lol.

i cant answer medically speaking of course. i just think once you get to where you are comfortable you will know.

Congrats on the 90 pounds!! Sorry to hear about the ulcer, but I hear they are pretty common with WLS patients....hopefully, the Prilosec will help!

I don't think I would a whole lot of stock into those charts....everyone I find seems to say something different. You will know where you are comfortable when you get there!!

KB- Dont go by the ideal weight chart..hell that chart has y ideal weight at 110-115 pounds, I am at 125-130 and feel like this is perfect for me, I am happy and healthy thats what matters. As long as you are in a healthy BMI thats what matters

This is the weight chart I am using. It seems more idealistic than the others I have seen. However, if I'm not comfortable or I feel like I have lost what needs to be lost before I hit that range I won't continue to try to reach it. Does that make sense?

Cool- based on this chart I AM a large frame. (no surprise) and should weigh 143-163. With some skin weight I would say 165 is defintely within a normal range for me. With the BMI of 25.8 I will still be classified as overweight, but I can deal with that! Although that does make me a little mad I will never be "normal" w/o skin removal. Not that I have ever been "normal"!

It definitely seems to hit closer to an ideal weight for me. The ones I was given from the doctor's office said I should be between 111 and 124 and for me 111 is just too small. I don't want to look like walking death. I want to look healthy.
