Question I could really use some encouragement !

Well, here goes. I just found your site and feel this may be appropriate as I have my first consultation meeting re: bypass surgery this next Tuesday, the 15th. I am soooo nervous. Can anyone give me some hints as to the important questions Ishould ask at this meeting? Also, what should I expect?
Thanks

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome to the board, colosn0w, thank you for joining us, I hope you'll find this place informative.

As for Qs, you must have done a lot of research on the surgery itself, so what are the Qs that came to your mind outright? Make a list of them, first.
Then, with this site, go through the Welcome Wagon, and the Stupid Question forums for starters.

Speaking of the Welcome Wagoin, I am taking the liberty of moving this there, since the place this was first posted is basically the section where the administrators post notices to the members. I hope you won't mind.

Last but not least, may your journey go well, (((((((((HUGS))))))))

Hello colosnow,

Welcome it will be nice getting to know you.
I have a feeling as you go through your meeting the questions will come to you as you go over everything with your surgeon.
They will answer ones you probably would never think about.

You will be fine and as Doc Sanae said, write down your thoughts and go from there. Go to the stupid questions forum, and that will help you too.

Keep us informed on how things go for you.

Again welcome to our site, you will love it here.

JUST wanted to welcome you to the board and wow this is an exicting time.

I know for me my surgeon requries patients first go to an information seminar then you schedule the first consult so you have many chances
to ask questions at the information seminar as I learned about the procedure.

BUT glad you found this site.
AND i look forward to getting to know you thru your posts.
GOOD LUCK and keep us posted of your journey!

Welcome. Glad you were able to find us. Many of us can be found in the chat room throughout the day and probably would be able to help you as far as questions. You surgeon will give you so much info and if there is anything he didn't answer, don't be afraid to ask.

Good Luck in your journey and hope to see ya around here.

Well you should expect your surgeon to give you a brief explination about the proceedure. They should tell you about medications, hospital stay and duration. I had a few questions for my surgeon and he spent a good deal of time answering those questions. Whatever you have been wondering about, or afraid of, ASK. Now is the time to get the answers. I went to people I knew and asked each of them "If you were about to have Gastric Bypass surgery what question would you ask the surgeon?" I got a lot of variety with that. Good Luck

Welcome, and you have come to the right place...as for me I would ask how many proceedures the surgeon has done...and any deaths, keep in mind that there may be perfectly good explanations for any deaths, and ask what your surgeon's expectations will be of you pre and post op.

For me my first visit was with the entire team of people, The doctor, nutionist, and psyc. The doctor just explained what to expect in the coming weeks, the surgery and what to expect for about a month after. Once he heard me say I knew most of that they said okay we will schedule your surgery and send the info in the mail to you. The nutrionist asked me to write down everything I typically would eat, before this current diet and the current diet, then she explained what I would be eating after surgery and what to start today. The physc. just asked a bunch of questions about me, why I eat, i am depressed about anything, and then told me that she wouldnt need to see me any more times. The entire day was 4 hours long. Now depending on what kind of doctor you see, some have all those people in there staff and others you just meet with the doctor and they tell you to who else to meet with. I wish you the best of luck.
