Default The new guy

Good afternoon everyone. My name used to be bigtluv, but you can call me tluv. I am almost 47, I had my surgery on 8/2/07. At my heaviest I was 5'10 1/2", 364lbs. 56" waist, 21" collar, 11 1/2ww shoe. Type 2 diabetes, HBP, severe sleep apnea. Now I am at same hieght, but I seem taller, (lol). 228lbs, 16 1/2" - 17" collar, 38 waist, back to 10 1/2" - 11" reg. shoe.

I am a Transit police officer, and preacher in the Phila. Pa. area. I was laughed at made fun of and talked about for the past 18 years. After my police academy days, I stopped working out and began becomming a "cop". I couldn't even walk a mile if I had to. Now I am running 1 1/2 ml. a day, 3 ml. on Sunday mornings. Usually i'm up at 4:30am, (no longer drinking), so I can get the work out in. I am up to 50 p/u's, I am not doing to much ab work, just a couple of lite crunches until I completely heal.

I am married for 20 years to the most beautiful woman in the world. We have a beautiful daughter who is entering her first year of college. There are problems beginning to come into play. Please bear with me.
1. This is the smallest I have ever been since I got out of the Navy in '83.
2. My wife had a brother who died ten years ago weighing over 500lbs. He was waited on hand and foot.
3. My mother just passed away 6 months ago with T2 so bad she began to lose her sight. All she remembers is 364.
4. My wife is believing that I have rolling eyes. That when people (women) complement me on my weight loss I just llllllloooovve it. I admit, it is nice to have someone say "you look good." I have not gotten any phone numbers, email addrss, and so on.
5. If any woman speaks to me she looks at me to see if I am loving it. Within the last month or so, with the new suits, and uniforms, I get laid out almost every week.

Just yesterday when my neighbors sister spoke to me, I immediately tolde my wife. Big mistake. She said "I knew you were going to tell me that, you know you like it, I'm tired of you and this wieght loss. Who do you think you are. Every day, some girl is looking at you, I don't want to hear it any more. Just gain the weight back, and we wont have this problem".
I was only informing her so she would know, and that's all. She gets fourious when I don't finish my plate. And I refuse to over eat.

I asked you to bear with me, thank you. Any questions, or answers from anybody, now that I found my new home?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

As we can see the jealously works both ways. ( Meaning some hubbys in here are wondering about the wives reactions when getting a compliment.) She will learn to deal with the compliments evenutally. She should be proud right with ya!

Welcome to the boards. I am glad you found us.

I am in a weird position that my hubby had the surgery first and I waited two years to then have mine. I can definitely relate to your wife and what she is feeling. But please, stay strong. I will never forget my surgeon saying that having this surgery is the most selfish thing we will ever do. People who are overweight usually are selfless, meaning they do everything to make everyone else happy. This surgery is for you. Your wife needs to deal with her own emotions, feelings and you need to deal with yours.

Glad you joined us and congrats on your success so far. It is quite difficult for some spouses to know how to react ~ sometimes counseling is helpful, other times it helps if you just focus on your relationship with your wife til she gets used to the new you ~ wishing you the best~~~

Welcome! It sounds like the good and bad balancing act of WLS with family is pretty daunting. Your wife is going through her own journey, and I am sure it is hard for her to see women looking at you in new ways. Keep loving her and be open and honest, even if she gets mad at you being truthful, she will know you aren't hiding anything. I really hope that things get better for you all- gaining back your weight, of course, is not a solution to the problem, even if she thinks that will fix it. I know some couples do counseling after WLS to help them through the humps and bumps.....just an idea.

First, Welcome.
You've Found A Wonderful Second Home.....

Since I Have Always Been The Insecure One In My Relationship With My Spouse, I'll Tell Ya From My P.o.v.....

stop Telling Her About The Comments If It Bothers Her So Much!!!

I'm Not Sure If She Is Obese Or Not, But In Either Case She Is Obviously Insecure & Getting Annoyed By These Remarks...

I'm Not Telling You To Not Be Proud Of What Others Say To You, Just Keep Them To Yourself Since You Know Its Bothering Her....

We Have A Wow Forum That Is Meant For Just That Reason....

I'll Have To Say, I Do Tell Hubby About The Comments Other Females Give Me, But Not All The Male Ones... Partially Because I Don't Want Him To Become The Insecure One, Because I Know How It Feels.....

If She Hears It, Fine, Just Don't Go On & On About It...
Come On Here & Let Us All Know!!!!!!!!!!

Believe Me, I Love To Here All The Wow Moments!!!!!!!!!

My 2 Cents.

Lol,
