Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | The only differance between the lap and open is the way you are opened up in surgery. The lap (not lapband), but having it laproscopic RNY is a very small incision, your postop recovery time is alot faster. The time to recover and return to work, I know someone else on here, can tell you more on that. As far as eating restrictions, it is the same as the open RNY. So yes, there is eating restrictions that will prevent you to have some malaborption problems afterwards. That is why you will be taking multivitamins/supplements for the rest of your life. Its good to really check out every type of surgery out there. Many surgeons now are just as experienced in doing it via lap, vs. open. It does make it easier to do it lap, if you are not as obese. Its just easier for them to do the procedure, as they still need to move the liver over, (which tends to collect fatty tissue). I personnally dont know anyone that didn't have a great lap experience. Now once again, do not confuse the laproscopic RNY with the lapband surgery. Complete total differant things. I think you do know what your talking about, but wanted to make sure that others are reading it correct. Good luck, keep asking questions.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I had lap RNY and I am an xray tech (mammographer), on my feet 7-8 hours/day. I can say I could have worked without a hitch at 5 weeks post-op. Before that I wasn't too sure if I could have done it by the 6 week mark I had arranged with my surgeon and work. I was totally ready at 6 weeks. Your mileage may vary.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I'm an OR nurse and went back after 2 weeks. They wouldn't let me 'circulate' because I wouldn't be able to help move people, but they made me 'scrub' my first day back. I lasted 3 hours on my feet and that was it, I had to sit down mid-case. After thatm, one of the ladies spoke up for me (scrubbing is hard all day even when you're healthy!) and said no to scrubbing and they let me admit after that. I was up and down constantly all day, but I was good after about a week. I had the opportunity to sit if I needed a minute. After that I was just tired for a few more weeks.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Cheri are you working out of your own shop or able to set your own appts? If so I would think after 2 weeks if all went very well you could start back, again if you have the ability to schedule your appts to give yourself time, or give yourself the ability to work half days, etc., otherwise it might be best to take at least a month off if possible, if you would nto be able to return to any kind of reduced load and had to stand up basically for an 8 hour shift of constant walk ins, etc. If you shop is walkins and not that busy, then again you coudl probably go back earlier if you had time to get off your feet at times during the day.

Weight Loss Method Controlled Eating & Exercise | Well why didn't i think of that!!! Actually I am self employed, I just rent my booth, so yes I can make my own hours....etc....but the problem with my clientel is that if I do one, I will have to do them all....I could add a day and break it down for half days I suppose....for me it is just hard to take a break, I know I should but I usually like to keep going so I can get done sooner.....but I am thinking I might have to change my ways after this surgery??? Thanks for the tip!

| My surgery was 6/4...and I returned to work 6/23. I do lots of walking at work but it is still an office job. If I were you, make it a VERY light week your first week back. Then slowly add more clients from there. |
