| 80 pounds lost in 6 months
Hi guys,
I am new here I just wanted to say hello and thank for the site, it is so important to me to have support in my journey....
I have had my surgery and I feel good. I have lost 80 pounds in 6 months and I only have about another 50ish to go to my goal weight. Now I am getting scared that I will put the weight back on. I am still losing a good amount every month. What scares me is that I am only 6 months out and I can already eat about 1/2 cup to 1 cup of food (depending on the food) and I do not have the dumping syndrome. I can also eat anything, even steak....that scares me because if I can eat anything now, what will I be able to eat in another year?
Other than that I am SO happy I had this done and I only wish I was able to do it sooner....I feel better about myself, I want to go out in public again...Thank God for WLS, it really did give me back my life!!

Welcome and congrats! I think that you are dealing with the same issues that we all do. I suppose that is what is suppose to keep us in check with ourselves. Good Luck to you.

Welcome!!!! We had our surgery on the same day and I think you're doing FABULOUS!!!!! I had a jump start on the weight loss with an intense 6 week pre-op diet, but since surgery I've lost 67 lbs. I can also eat a decent amount of food and I too have had steak. I do dump, but not terribly because I haven't really tested the boundaries too much. If I dumped it was always on something I didn't expect to. I think we all worry about re-gaining, but you're doing wonderful and eventually you will need to consume more calories to stop losing and maintain. Coming here is a great step because we have people at all stages of the journey and there's lots of advise and support.

I constantly think like you do. I feel like I can eat way more than most WLS patients and I do not dump and have never thrown up since surgery. The only thing that I feel really helps me is that I get full pretty fast and am satisfied with just a bite of certain "bad" foods instead of a whole container. As long as my scale keeps going down or stays the same I try to maintain a positive attitude and not worry about the future. I set my sites on staying healthy, excercising and enjoying each day to it's fullest!

I'm exactly like you Smease. I get full fast and I can have a bite of pretty much anything and that completely satisfies me so i never feel deprived and I eat healthy 99% of the time. I haven't thrown up even once and other than getting 'stuck' a few times, I haven't even gotten nauseaous. I wish/hope everyone had/has such a smooth and pleasant experience.

I also agree with smease. I live my life to the fullest becasue I could not do it before surgery but I can do it now and I enjoy every single day and what that day has to offer me. I am so thankful to be be here today and that I made a wise decision to have the surgery. God gave me a second chance at life and I am going to live it to the fullest.

Thank you everybody. You have made me feel good. I go to all the support groups here and most of the people have "problems" like dumping from sugar or fat. Or they can't eat steak or chicken....I don't have anything at all. I do have a hard time with Chicken getting stuck and I have thrown up once because of it, but as soon as that one teaspoon of food come out, I felt fine. But I guess I just kinda feel like they have problems that keep them on thier toes and without any problems I am affriad of falling off the wagon.............I feel better hearing from you guys because I too can only eat 1/2 cup of food to 3/4 cup if it is a soft food and I am satisfied with that, or I am happy with one Hersheys kiss every few months or so.....so I guess I am at the same place as a lot of people...I just don't feel like I am at the same place as anyone in my support group. Thanks for all your kind words.
