Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I'm sure by the time you get this, you will have already had surgery, but I just found the post. Here's hoping you had a successful and uneventful surgery. Keep us posted of your progress as soon as you're able.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. My surgery went well on monday. It is Friday and I just now feel like getting on the puter. Actually had to do some business work too.

Monday was rough, I was comparing pain to my gallbladder surgery but it was more than that one. The surgery lasted 4 hours so my poor hubby and mom was worried sick b/c we were told it would be 2-4. The doc said it was hard working around my liver, it was very large. But am thankful they were able to do it laproscoptic with 5 small holes instead of open. My sugar went really high after surgery and had to get an insilin shot. Thankfully it went back down after the first day, the surgery made it go up just from the trauma. My blood pressure would go up some if I went too long without pain meds so I made sure I would not wait too long without gettin some. The first day I had lots of burping up air which was nausiating. The morphin button was nice but I did not hit it as much as I could have, my head would get so dizzy. I wanted the cath. out so I could go to bathroom on my own so I did that and took a short walk the day of surgery. My mouth was so dry but if I didn't think about it, made things better. I was alert but my eyes were so heavy from morphin I could not open them. I had dry heaves twice, seemed to happen when I would go to the bathroom and some more air would come up and made me so nausious I would have the dry heaves, hated that..during I would have to think of a happy place and breath slow to get them to stop. I imagined being on a lake on our boat fishing and there was a sunset...it helped. Day 2 was better I could tell I was better every day, had a headake and some sinus drainage, I think the AC was too low that night. They took away morphon button on Day 2 afternoon and I could have either morphin injected in IV or liquid loratab. I chose liquid loratab b/c the morphin made my head too dizzy to walk and even keep my eyes open. I need to be on the liquid loratab anyway to go home. It worked well and made my head feel better. I started ice chips and apple juice diluted with water 50/50 late evening on day 2. This went well, I loved the ice chips in my dry mouth. The apple juice went well too along with drinking the liquid loratab. It tasted like cough med. The pill version used to make me sick with my gallbladder removal but this did not. I also walked 3 times on day 2. My hubby did not sleep well the first night and thus kept me up too so I sent him home the second night and was fine there myself. I actually was able to go to the bathroom myself all night. Especially after they take the compression leggings thing off. The 3rd day I felt even better. I walked the hall by myself that morning and drank more diluted apple juice and ice chips. Hubby was happy I was alert enough to sit up and talk to him after I started the liquid loratab vs. the morphin. The doc came and let me go home mid day....yipee. I went home with the drain in and another that had a pump in a bag to send meds to my stomach. I pinned these to my clothes & gown that worked well. It was so nice to be home and in my own comfy bed. I did miss the remote bed at hospital to help get up but mine is so much more softer. My recliner was nice to watch a little tv. I also went for a walk down the driveway and was craving some chicken broth that went well and really hit the spot. That night I slept best, but still on my back for the drains. Day 4 I woke up in pain b/c I went most of the night without any pain meds while sleeping but when I drink the med it hits immediately, its amazing. I drunk some fluids but went back to bed and slept until 12pm and had to go back to the docs office to remove the drains. That was a rough 1 hr ride down a bumpy mountain...ouch. It was so painful removing that tube but was over quick. I had one with my C-section but I don't remember any pain I must have been on some good pain meds it was removed while still in hospital. This day we picked up my 4 yr old boy. He had been with my sis and mom all week while my hubby took care of me. I am so thankful for them. It was nice having my sweetie pie home but he was tired and grumpy from lack of sleep too. My hubby was so great to take care of me, he is so sweet. I took another walk down the driveway and still more air. I started having gas that day I came home so the burping has slowed down. Today is day 5, I feel so better every day, I can do more and more. If I go too long without pain med it gets rough, but I notice I can go longer and longer without it every day, everything is improving. I fixed breakfast for my litte Trevor this morning and tended to myself while hubby was doing business over the phone. (We own a Heating & Air Co.) I even did a little business myself so I'm happy with my progress.

As far as fluid intake, my doc said to just do what I can tolerate. In the hospital I started with a medicine cup and did 1 oz every 30mins-1hr. Now I can do 2 oz at a time and 2 oz jello too. I love my jello, SF peach and black cherry. Ive been using Fat free chick broth low sodium from the carton and just pour it into a small glass bowl. Its nice when I want something heartier. I slept allot yesterday and did not feel like I got enough fluids. I was doing just water so today I made some cherry crystal lite walmart brand today and seem to want to drink more. I don't stick to a every hour thing but sip as much as I can. I just don't want to over do it and get sick. My doc said I will be on clear fluids until next Thursday with our next visit, so that will be 9 days on clear. Hope I can make it ok. I am satisfied with jello and ect. filling me up but dream about food...its funny. I dreamed there was some junk food in the house and I could not resist and was eating all kinds of stuff and was not suppose too. My hubby has been so great though, he will eat when I take my naps and hasn't yet ate in front of me until last night he snacked on some crackers and that probly triggered my dream..lol

Day 3 I was able to sleep on my side it has been so nice, I hated sleeping on my back. I use a body pillow to lean my belly on. I have had this pillow since I was pregers in 2003 and have been addicted to it, really helps to sleep on your side.

I look forward to getting back to my work - me and my bro and sis co-own a construction company too and I would love to sit at my desk and see what all has went on, I am the estimator. I get cabin fever if home too long. I will see how I feel come next week if I dont' feel like it then home it is though!

This was long but I wanted to get it out before I forgot and hopefully help someone else to know how it is right after surgery. Will update more later.

Congratulations on joining the Losers' Bench!!!
Thank you for the update, you sound like you are doing very well.
Other people have posted about having food dreams, so you're pretty much normal there, too, at your stage.
((((((HUGS)))))) May your journey go well.
