Unhappy New Member-wants To Know Everything There Is To Know

HELLO EVERYONE

I HAVE BEEN READING SO MANY THREADS AND POSTS AND CANNOT BELIEVE HOW HELPFUL YOU ALL ARE TO EACH OTHER. I THINK IT IS SO GREAT!!!! I READ SO MUCH ABOUT YOU ALL I FEEL LIKE I KNOW YOU. LOL. ITS LIKE ONE BIG HAPPY AND SUPPORTIVE FAMILY THAT I JUST HAD TO BE A PART OF AFTER READING ABOUT ALL OF YOU.

WELL AFTER YEARS AND YEARS OF DISAPPOINTMENT OF FAILED DIETS, GAINING WEIGHT, NO CLOTHES TO WEAR, AND HATING THE WAY I LOOK!!!! AND JUST NOT FEELING THE WAY SOMEONE MY AGE SHOULD WHEN IT COMES TO ENERGY LEVEL. I HAVE DECIDED TO UNDERGO WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY. I HAVE BEEN DOING RESEARCH ON THE LAP BAND SURGERY AND THE GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY AND NOTICED THAT THE LAP BAND SURGERY SOUNDS ALOT SAFER. ESP IF I WANT TO HAVE MORE CHILDREN (just had my first baby 10 weeks ago) VERY SOON!

I AM 37 YEARS OLD, WEIGH 207lbs AT 4ft 11inches AND NEED TO LOSE 100lbs. ITS TIME I DO SOMETHING AND DO SOMETHING FAST BECAUSE THIS IS REALLY CONTROLLING MY LIFE FROM THE FOOD I EAT TO THE CLOTHES I WEAR, ESP THE CLOTHES I WEAR!!!

THANK GOD MY INSURANCE COVERS WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY I AM THAT INSURANCE COVERS IT OTHERWISE I DIDNT KNOW WHAT I WAS GOING TO DO.

OK EVERYONE, I NEED TO KNOW EVERYTHING YOU ALL KNOW.
  • PRE OP & POST OP.
  • WHAT YOU HAVE HEARD ABOUT THE DIFFERENT SURGERYS OR EXPERIENCED.
  • DO YOU KNOW ANYONE OR HAVE YOU ENDED UP FAILING AND GAINING IT ALL BACK (is that possible?)
  • HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT TO GET PREGNANT AFTER THE SUGERY.
  • I HEARD ITS SAFER TO DO THE LAP BAND SURGERY IF YOU WANT TO GET PREGNANT RATHER THAN BY PASS SURGERY.
  • ETC ETC ETC ETC ETC ETC
OH BY THE WAY I AM FROM LONG ISLAND NY.
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH AND I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM YOU.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome to the board, BOOTS! ((((((HUGS))))))
Thank you for joining us, and we're glad to know you are finding our board interesting.
Another Long Islander!! fr1endly2 is also a Long Islander. I'm sure she'll say hi to you soon.

You sure have a lot of Qs, which is very good!!
Lap band vs GBS. Both surgeries have their pros and cons. So, in the end you will have to talk with the surgeon of your choice to make the final decision. However, pregnancy is possible with GBS as well as lap band, and there are many successful cases with GBS. The recommended waiting time for preganancy after weightloss surgery is 2 years. What this means is that you should be at goal, and have gained a healthy eating habit that enables you to maintain your goal weight.
ChuppyGirl had lap band done some years ago, but she had it revised to GBS this spring, so you may find something by checking her posts.
Your profle is close to LittleLisaMarie, in age and physical stature.

I also hope you'll take the time out to check the various articles in the Home of this site.

(((((((HUGS)))))))) May your journey go well.

HI FRIENDLY & DOCSANAE

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT. I APPRECIATE IT.

BUT NOW IM THINKING OF WAITING ON THE SURGERY BECAUSE AFTER FINDING OUT THAT I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT 2 YEARS AFTER THE SURGERY TILL I CAN GET PREGNANT AGAIN. IM 37 AND FOR ME TO WAIT A FEW MORE YEARS TILL I HAVE MY SECOND BABY IS NOT GOOD. I DONT WANT TO TRY TO HAVE A BABY AT 40. ESP WITH MY HISTORY I WAS LUCKY TO GET PREGNANT THIS TIME. (i had a myomectomy 6 years ago so we didnt know if i could have kids) SO IM GOING TO TRY AND GET PREGNANT RIGHT AWAY. AND AFTERWARD ILL GO FOR THE SURGERY. MY HUSBAND AGREED. IM DISSAPPOINTED THOUGH. I CANT STAND WALKING AROUND IN THIS BODY AS IT IS. BUT ILL HAVE TO JUST BE PATIENT A LITTLE LONGER. IT WILL BE WORTH IT, I HAVE MY 10 WEEK OLD LITTLE GIRL TO SHOW FOR IT. AT LEAST I DIDNT GAIN WEIGHT WITH THIS PREGNANCY BELIEVE IT OR NOT. I ENDED UP LOSING 10lbs.

WELL THANKS GIRLS AND PLEASE KEEP IN TOUCH. EVEN THOUGH I WILL PROBABLY PUT THIS SURGERY ON HOLD FOR A BIT I WILL STILL BE A PART OF THIS SITE.

THANKS AGAIN

HEY BOOTS...
personally i agree with your thoughts...if your wanting another baby
do that before the weight loss surgery. FOR anyone pregnancy
comes with weight gain and after going thru the WLS you dont want
to gain and then have difficult time relooseing.
YOU make alot of sense unless you are haveing difficulty conceiving
due to weight. OTHERWISE i would recommend this for that.
I had my last child at 40, and he is 3 now. ACTUALLY i had lost
100 lbs and finally got pregnant after 13 years of infertlity!!!!

ALL the best and feel free to keep in touch! DONT forget about us !
hugz good luck and all the best on having a baby!

BOOTS, I hope you are blessed with another lovely baby.
You can do good, seeing that you were actually able to keep your weight under control during your pregnancy. I am sure you will be able to lose a bit while you are trying for a new child, every lb lost will make it easier to conceive, and also make your pregnancy easier. So, even if you don't go for the surgery right now, do work to get a good and healthy eating routine, and some exercise routine.
I know there's a nice exercise program that involves your child, for the child, it's like playing with mommy, while for mommy, it's intergrating exercise with playing. I saw it being done in a TV news program so if you do a search, maybe you can come up with the program. I think it's worth looking into.
Good luck with everything you do, please come back here when you can and let us know how you are doing.

Boots, I hope that it all works out for you with having another baby. I agree that having another one first might be the best idea. I think my sister in law was only a year out before she was pregnant, but I am not sure. Anyhow I would personally hate to go through all the work of losing just to have to work really hard to re-lose after the baby is born. As far as when you do decide to have the surgery....I personally lean towards the bypass versus the band. I am kinda a set it and forget it kinda gal and to me the band is something that requires more maintenance and work for less result. I think that when you are deciding which one to have your surgeon will guide you towards the best choice for you, but you may want to talk to Chuppy/Hanadi about her banding experience versus her bypass. I am so excited to have another NYer on here. I live in Jersey, but love to go to NYC whenever possible. I hope that even though you don't plan on getting the surgery right away that you will keep posting and checking in with us. This way we can still help you while you are getting pregnant and you will be a very informed pre-op patient. Best of luck sweetie.
