Hi, My nick name is Dixie. Yes I am from the South. Good fried chicken and all those great southern dishes. I have been over weight all my life. It has been a struggle. I am 57 years old and suffer from many health problems. Most due to my weight I am sure. I had total knee replacement a few weeks ago and have to have the other one done soon. All this weight for all those years was just too much for them. After almost a year of trying to get everything done for insurance approval I have a surgery date. Sept. 30 will be the start of my "NEW LIFE" I am a little scared. I had planed to get the band but I talked to my Dr. and we agreed that R&Y would be the best thing for me. I need all the help I can get. It is so good to talk to other people who have been down the same road. Thanks Dixie

I thought you were talking about me. I am 56 with the same problems. I weight more than you but I had my surgery on July 23rd. It will be to months soon. I have lost 46 pounds and haven't had any problems. You'll have a few days that are a little hard but then it all works out and you are off to a wonderful weight lose time. I can't "weight" to here how you are doing after the surgery. Hang in there and let everyone here see that weight come off. They know what they are doing and can be alot of help. Good Luck!

Welcome ladies!! I'm glad you found us!! Sure it's very scary facing this surgery, but the life we were living was scarier!! High blood preasure, high cholesterol, diabetes, knee and back problems etc.!!! Not a day goes by that I don't thank the good Lord for helping me get this surgery done and also for finding this site!! I think you'll both find alot of support from everyone here on the board, especially Doc! Welcome!!!
