Default Another Newbie Here

Hi all, I'm Kat. Had a LAP RNY done this past Thursday (8/24/06). Still very new at this - came home Saturday! Seem to be doing great.

No pics yet - Did take my before photo but will have to wait for an "after" until I have a little more "after" behind me lol.

Enjoyed reading some of the posts - there are so many, I had to quit, information overload. I definitely LOVE the photos - I can only imagine myself looking so good!

Started vitamins and TUMS today with no problem. Walking is going well but will be very happy when more of the gas is gone. Getting all those fluids down is very taxing. Not hungry yet.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Welcome to the board Katophile...I am glad to know that you aren't experiencing any problems thus far. I am looking forward to getting to know you better and understand about how overwhelming it can be to try to read all the posts. I had Lap RNY on April 4th and have lost 84 lbs so far. I have had my share of little glitches along the way, but don't regret the decision to have this surgery at all. Welcome again and get comfy. Feel free to ask any question at all.

Hi Janae,
Thanks for the hello & message. I see you are military affiliated. Prior Army myself and hubby is retired after 21+ yrs. (That's how we ended in NC). 5 months and 84 lbs. WOW!!! I can't even fathom losing this much weight - I know it's going to happen but it's almost too good to believe - especially after playing the failed dieting game for soooooo long. Look forward to reading your posts and getting to know everybody.

Hi Everybody,
Thanks for the welcome. I haven't quite got the hang of leaving messages here, so forgive the redundancies for just a little while. Found the chat room yesterday. Met and talked to SHH - that was great. Looking forward to being a "loser" and growing larger as a person.
((((hugs))))) Kat

Hey Katophile. It was nice chatting with you yesterday. I hope to see you here more often. I will be here less, unfortunately, as school starts next week.

Talk to you soon. S

Talking Hi Kat....

WELCOME...and congrats on joining us on the "LOSING" side...I know that it must feel a little sureal.
I remember after my surgery...I thought, "Did I really have the surgery??" And then the pounds started falling off -
I had my Lap RNY surgery April 19th...and have lost 88.6# in 4mo. 10days... Needless to say...I'm thrilled with this surgery...and how it's been for my life!

I know you will be thrilled too! I'm looking forward to getting to know you and hope you will come here often for all the support you may need. This group has been soooo wonderful...fun....and helpful. Doc is onsite if you need some medical advise...but, of course...your surgeon should be your first consult. But, if you start to have questions...or issues...come here. I've made it thru with the help of everyone here!!!

It is so great to have another person that is affiliated with the military on here. I am hoping to get to glean some words of wisdom from you regarding surviving military life soon...lol.

Janae,
I'll help you, support you, whatever I can do to help. Military life is, at times, extremely difficult. But it is DO-ABLE - and often very rewarding! Look forward to talking to you.
