Default My first "Hiccup" along the journey

Hi all,
Things have been going great - Today is my 1 week anniversary. I think I'm doing great. However, this afternoon, I got up off the couch and there was a large area of blood that had soaked through 2 shirts. "Uh-oh" is an understatement - I FREAKED!!! It was after office hours so ended up at the ER. Turns out, I have a large hematoma under one of my trokar sites and it erupted. Now I have to call the office tomorrow and see what needs to happen. I'm a bit nervous (HA I'm a LOT nervous!), as the Dr. said that they may opt to open up the site and remove the clot. Doesn't sound like much fun ~ but neither does an infection. I'm to call my Doc in the a.m.
Anybody else have such a thing happen???
All in all, I feel great - no pain - am walking 1.8 miles a day - and waiting until I can have something besides clear liquids.
I'll keep ev1 informed.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hi all,
Well, I called the Dr. this a.m. and had to go in. I was really dreading it (I was afraid of the 'they're probably going to open it' statement)..Anyways....It was/is a large hematoma/bloodclot...and since it was already open, they didn't have to open it (yeah!!) They pushed all the blood out they could and then explored the site - trying to decide if they were going to have to pack it. Thankfully, the opening wasn't that large and it was decided not to pack. I do have to do dressing changes - which is no biggy. They also put my on an antibiotic.
The antibiotic leads to a funny situation ~ I am being counselled by the pharmacist to be sure and drink a large glass of water when I take the pill and to take it with food. I finally stopped his spiel and told him that was out of the question - then explained why - and he told me I was being a difficult patient (playfully).
So - it turns that all is well - although I will have to be attentive to the site. Turns out the hematoma is located at the site where the trokar that does the most work and moving around is located.
All in all - a good day.

I am glad to hear that all is well now and that you are able to get better. That sounds like a scarey experience to go through.

Good to hear that your doing better now. I just am very thankful that I live very close to the hospital and in fact I feel very paranoid about any unusual pains I may have.
