Default Hey there,

well I am new to this site. I havnt actually had any surgery yet. I have been thinking about it and trying to research. Hopefully over the next short while I will be able to gather adequate information to make a decision and go see the doctor. I will give you a little background information on me here.. I have been on a low carb diet for the better part of the last 2 years. I have lost 60 lbs that way and that was in the 1st year. I have hit a plateau and havn't really lost anymore weight over the last while. I am a truck driver so exercising is quite difficult at times. I used to walk everyday and do workout videos. I have always been very active but have been big all my life..I am ready for a change but I'm kinda hesitant and dont' know if this surgery would be for me.. I think the doctor is gona think it's rediculous because i onlyhave to lose 90 lbs but I've tried so hard and many different things. Not to mention I'm worried that when I decide to leave the low carb diet behind i will gain back all the weight which is very easy to do. Let me know what you guys think. i'll try and pos some pics soon

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hi Pamma and welcome to the forum board. I am sure that you will get a huge flood of welcomes and information that is useful on this board. I can understand and relate to your frustration at not being able to lose beyond the 60lbs. I had the Lap RNY surgery on April 4th of this year and do not regret it one bit. It is not the easiest thing to do, but is well worth while. I hope that if it is something you really want that it all works out for you. If you decide against it, feel free to still post and let us know how your journey is going along anyways. Best of luck and can't wait to get to know ya.

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Please pull up a chair and settle in, make yourself at home.
There's a basic criteria for the surgery (please check this link) that the insurance companies follow, as well as the surgeons, so you'll need to start your reasearch there. Ther more you have obesity related health problems, the better chance you have of getting apporved.
(((((((HUGS))))))) May your journey go well.

well i took the BMI test and it said 35-39.9. i dont' really have any serious obesity related health issues.. I think the main poblem would have to be the diet I have been following for the last few years. I have had to go to the doctor for several different things over the past year or so... and it seems like my body no longer has the ability to protect itself... My immune system seems weak almost.

HUGS, welcome to the boards!!!!

GLAD YOU FOUND us. I failed with ATKINS afer looseing a nice amount then falling off and not able to get back on! BUT with this i have have
taken off all my weight in 14 months.

I think the best thing is to maybe attend an information seminar for a bariatric surgeon and see if you qualify. THEY wont laugh at you!~ THEY
full understand our struggles and usually know how to get things approved
for different circumstances.

I look foward to getting to know you thru your posts!
hugs
and welcome
its a great family here

I don't think you are stupid at all for wanting to check into the surgery. I would think that it shows that you are wanting to make sure all your bases are covered and that you can make an informed decision. You are smart for wanting to be able to make the best choice for you in your life. Best of luck, and should this be the option you choose...we will be here for you. If not, we still will be here for you.
