Default 3 weeks out

Hi everyone, I'm just checking in. Well it's been about 3 weeks since my surgery. There have been good days and there have been bad days. Today was a very painful gassy day I missed my son's hockey breakfast fundraiser and his afternoon game, no matter how many gas ex pills I took I couldn't seem to get rid of the pains.

I have been fairly diligent about taking all of my pills, though I've been having some iron issues so I am off that until my next visit on the 26th. I am still on pureed foods, which has already gotten old, but because my list is so small there isn't much variety I can play with.

Overall I still would not change my mind about having this surgery. Your like a baby getting used to being weaned from one source of food to the next and your body and mind just has to get used to it all. I am down 21lbs and am slowly starting to feel a difference. That is the equivalent to four 5lb bags of sugar!!

I have a wonderful "sponsor" who has been helping me tremendously and that is why I haven't really posted much. When i go back for my next visit I am hoping they will let me know if I can take my iron and B12 seperately instead of in one pill, this way if I continue to have problems with the iron I can still be taking my B12.

And the last note I have, is to never be without papaya enzymes. That's my personal opinion anyway. They really have been an absolute lifesaver.
Doc if you have any opinions about those I would love to hear it, just so I know if they are not a good choice

Take care everyone.
Jennifer

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Jennifer~ glad to hear everything is going well for the most part. Sorry about all the gas. Did you have your surgery at HIghland?? I'm sorry if you've already told me.. I was just curious and I can't seem to keep anything straight these days. I'm having my surgery done at Highland on Dec. 4th.

What are papaya enzymes and what are they for? Just curious.

I remember this stage SO vividly...I was so anxious for pureed...then when I got there, it was LIKE "I NEED SOMETHING TO CHEW!!!"

Keep to your plan and this stage will pass! Drink TONS of water and keep moving....!

Sorry to hear about all the pain. Might be TMI but are you having regular bowls? That can cause cramping/pain if you are backed up. It happened to most of us early out. If you are having problems with that try miralax. Also...it really helps to move around a lot. I had really bad gas with my gallbladder surgery a few weeks ago and as soon as I got my butt out of the bed and moving around it really started to move. Good luck and congrats on the weightloss so far.

Just to answer a few questions. Yes my surgery was at Highland. I had awful gas pains but couldn't get anything to pass in either direction, if you catch my drift. i was taking gas ex. No I am not constipated and have been having regular bowel movements. I think my downfall was pureed vegtable soup! I won't be doing that again.

Congratulations on joining the Losers' Bench.
Apart from your gas issues, you sound like you're doing fine.
