Default I'm so COLD!

Okay - I know that I live in Minnesota and that's just asking for cold weather. But, seriously, since surgery I just can't seem to get warm. I had my two-week post op appt with my surgeon today and he chuckled and told me "wait until next winter. You'll really be cold then." YIKES!! I haven't even lost that much weight (26 lbs). We didn't discuss it any further but does any one know, is it from metabolism changes? Body healing? Or just my imagination! I can wear sweat pants, turtle neck, sweater, socks AND slippers, sit under a blanket and still have goose bumps. It's soooooooo weird!!! I am typically the one who's always complaining how hot I am in the office at work. Of course -10 degree mornings don't help either

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I look at it this way I have lost alot of insulation, Like a seal thats lost lots of well to put it bluntly FAT...But the shivering started 2 weeks after surgery and the only day I was way comfortable this summer was when it might have hit 88 degrees, I went to Florida in November to visit my family and I was cold in Florida! Cold in Florida I couldn't believe it! I wore long sleeves and sweatpants!!!!! Now I go to bed with heavy duty thermal hunting socks and thermals put 4 blankets on the bed and have one more fleece blanket around my head, who would have thunk it! My husband throws blankets off the bed, if he keeps it up I may have to hurt him, just joking!!!

Okay, I'm glad that I'm not the only one. One thing that concerns me is that my daughter and I are planning a trip to the BWCAW in July - I know it gets chilly at night and I sure don't want to carry WINTER gear on a 360 rod portgage!! At least I know that I'm not a freak of nature and that there are others out there with the same thing - crazy isn't it? Going from being the one who is always hot to the freeze baby . . . . but it's well worth it!!

I have been the same way since my surgery. Before surgery I was very hot natured. I only sleep covered by a sheet and folded the blanket over double on my hubby. But since the surgery we now have 2 blankets on the bed and he has to share both of them. Also I wear my socks and some house shoes and a big fuzzy robe around the house at night and if I sit on the couch to watch a movie or something I cover up with blankets. It is really weird. I agree with Racina I think we are losing our insulation.

My wife actually complains about this to me. She says I used to be warm to snuggle up to at night and now she says my feet are ice cold all the time. Oh well she'll get used to it I guess.

I am always cold. I have the down comforter on my half of the bed, and hub has only a blanket. I wear socks and long johns. Sexy, huh? LOL

Patients have mentioned the room is not as cold as the year before. I tell them because I had WLS and being cold is my only negative feedback to the surgery.

As a fellow Minnesotan, I feel your pain! I started to get cold real early this fall (like August! ) and it hasn't gotten any better. I've lost my insulation! Padding, too, as it hurts to sit in what used to be a comfortable chair unless I have my special tailbone cushion. I'm one of those who wouldn't zip up my coat unless it was single digits or blowing hard in my face. If I did, I'd sweat, and that's dangerous in the winter!

Yeah, these days in the belows while the gentle breezes waft the snow horizontally past the window can be trying. (This state is twisted! Most places I've lived, the snow falls vertically. Not here!! ) Better make real sure you have an extra blanket in your car just in case!

I used to sleep very lightly clad. Now it's flannel sleep pants and one of my old XXL or XXXL sweatshirts. And I wear thermal socks and slippers all over the house. I used to go barefoot. Now around the house I also wear a vest I picked up at Cabella's and it's long-sleeved heavy shirts.

Hang in there, spring'll be here before you know it and the robins will start showing up again in your yard come May or June when the leaves appear!

Default always hot

My DH and DD were laughing at me the other day. I was in shorts and a short sleeve shirt and I was still hot (in NY's 20* temp). I said maybe after surgery and losing my insulation I will be like them and always be cold. They busted up at me. I have always been the hot one. I would go ice fishing in a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt while everyone else had a snow suit, winter coat, long sleeve thermals, hoodies ect ect...lol. I have always said that i hoped when I went though my "change" that I would go frrom hot to cold. Even having a hysterectomy didnt help. Maybe WLS will .

My philosphy is "you can only take off so many clothes, you can always add more clothes and blankets if needed"
