Default Back from my 2 month post op!!!

Hello everyone,
Well I had my 2 month post op visit today and everything went great. I had lost 18 lbs since 1 month post op. Making it 31 lbs. since surgery. I have been at a stand still for weeks now. But my doctor was happy with makes me really happy. I did ask him to do my lab work because of the eyesight issue I told you all about earlier on another post. He does not think it has anything to do with the surgery or the lack of Vitamin A but he went ahead and did the lab work anyway. But they will not have the results back till next week. The only thing he wasn't happy with is the fact I have not joined a monthly in person support group. I told him about this wonderful site and about all the support I get from here on a DAILY basis but he had the typical doctor reaction. He said "You need to get out and off your butt and go to one of our support groups and meet people" to which I explained "listen I live 1 hour and 45 minutes from here, and I work everyday I can't not drive that far to come up here after working all day" to which he explained "we have some closer to where you live and I want you to go". So I guess I will start one next month since this months meetings have already been held. I will let yuu guys know how it goes.
I really feel like I get great great great support here. And it is everyday not just once a month. I do not feel like I have to talk to you guys in person to feel your love and support. Anyway, I will quit rambling on. And I guess and "get my butt out and go to one of his support groups" By the way since I lost 18 lbs since I saw him last month he wants me to lose 17 more by my 3 month post op visit. Pray for me.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

That's a great report. I know what you mean about the support groups. My time is very precious. I love having this site as my support.

Still wishing for the whoosh fairy for both of us. Tomorrow is weigh day.

Great news on the weight loss. Good job! I have not been to any support groups either. Each month I make excuses either I don't want to drive that far, or busy traffic, or have Aqua classes on Wednesday nights but mainly because I'm not a real out going person. That's why this site is so great for me. I too feel I get the support I need on here.

Congrads, you are doing a great job with the weight loss. My doctor's PA, at my one year appointment asked me also if I am going to a support group meeting and I told her I am way to far away and that I have this great site on the internet and the PA told me that was wonderful and to keep up with the support group on line, becasue she saw the progress I made with just this site for a support group. The doctor and his PA said I am doing a wonderful job of losing the weight. All I have to do now is get off this stall that I am having. You are doing great and keep up the good work.

There is a fairly ineffective support group about 30 miles NE of here we sometimes go to. Lately they've been somewhat ignorant in some of the things they've been discussing (mental health) and we've found it easy to "miss" the meetings. There were only 3-4 friends who would get together at Perkins for dinner, no speakers or expertise, just some experience. (Like the guy who wouldn't eat his protein and lost a whole lot of muscle mass and strength and his wife, the snacker, who's back on soda and other evils and has regained 120 pounds. Great examples! )

30 miles due west of here, our psychiatrist's practice is working on putting together a real support group, with a therapist and everything. They just haven't started meeting yet (still waiting after 4 months.) 33 miles SE of here, there is a potential support group trying to hatch, but there's not a critical mass yet. I doubt that I could find enough folks here in our town (population 9,611) to do anything meaningful.

The nearest real support group is in the Minneapolis area, at least an hour and a half away. Most sane people around here don't volunteer for that kind of distance in the winter.

Sure am glad I found RR! You guys are more help than you know!! Thanks, everyone, for your willingness to share, and especially the determination to keep this a happy, loving family. The more I hear about other lists, the more I like ours.
