hi.
I'm nessa
i'm new here.
married to brian who is 38 today.
i'm 48 soon to be 49
we are both obese.
tomorrow we go for our first WLS seminar.
in May 2006 we started South Beach Diet.
it works... if you follow it. I lost nearly 80 pounds. brian lost over 100 but he's regained it all and then some.
in fact, i now run a site for SBD but it's small.... and i can't talk WLS surgery there so here i am.
I've regained about 40 and can't seem to get back on track.
bri wants GB
I thought i wanted LapBand but now i'm rethinking (due to research) and think I too want Gastric Bypass.
We are in Baltimore Maryland (owings mills to be exact)
figured I'd say hi.

wow thanks.
i've made seminar appointments with the three hospitals our insurance prefers.
our insurance is a cakewalk (pardon the pun). they cover 85% of the surgery, nothing other than BMI over 40 required.
our first appointment is tomorrow night.

Welcome, nessa! If you and brian do it together, you'll have your own internal support group, which is a great way to go. But be aware of the cruel reality - brian will lose his weight faster than you! Guys do that, and there's nothing you can do about it!
I'm just over a year out from RNY. My wife was initially opposed to it, so I was going to have the band to appease her, but after going with me to the surgeon, she agreed that the bypass would be more effective for me. Now she's having her RNY in a couple of weeks. She saw what it did for me, and she wants it for herself, too.
Read all you can, do your research as if this were the most important thing you'll do this year, because it is. You can only faintly imagine the freedom it gives us to be a different person! I'd do it again in an instant if I had to. I think everyone else here would agree.
