Hi, ya'll. 1st time posting; this is a
big day ...
celebrating 1st anniversary since rou-n-Y. If i toot my own horn a tiny bit can somebody please simply think the thought "good-work" ?

can anyone else relate to a statement about the extreme hard work of the 1st year following WLS? I am personally encouraged given the satisfaction of having weathered this year so well. The short & sweet version follows...currently down 106 lbs; off HTN, asthma meds & no more CPAP (woo-hoo!!!) I can't do the horizontal splits nor can I single handedly wrestle an alligator but then I never aimed to become a super hero; just a healthier version of me.
Breathing easily is far better than anything I've ever tasted or was gifted. Admittedly, still have a way to go. Goal weight 45lbs away. As far as my health status is concerned, I'm already a winner, even without reaching my goal wt. Yes, WLS is expensive, serious & potentially life threatening, & because of that it isn't for everyone. It's a long process via necessity (in a myriad of ways). From where I type tonight, it has been worth every phone-call, key-stroke, insurance letter, worried second, dollar & penny invested. Over 2 yrs ago, gasping & sweating, I barely fit into the largest seat they had in the seminar room at my bariatric physicians clinic; I was desperate for help & a real solution. Sadly, I had almost given up on enjoying my life or myself. Tonight, on the exact eve of my 1st anniversary of the newer, healthier version of me, I am pleased to report on this forum that sometimes the big gals get to win-so,
hurray for us this time.
