Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Talking Sandy!!!

Ask away!!!
Any questions you have just post right here on your thread!
You will get soooo many responses....

Also...if you are concerned in the switch over....there are sooo many recipe books (here is a link to the thread called "Good Books" - it has some great recipes in the one by Susan Maria Leach)that are great...and would help you adjust your foods soooo well. I was soooo thankful when I was getting onto more normal foods. I'm sure you feel that way too.

Congrats on your new life...and what an amazing journey you are on! wow...it is soooo exciting...and you better get prepared to be amazed with how great you will feel and how fantastic you will look! This is exciting!!

There is a post on this board with great recipe's for puree'd foods....here is the LINK. My favorite is the Noodleless/meatless Lasagna. WOW, it may not sound good...but it got me thru that harder stage...in fact - I took it onto the solid stage early on....when I had a difficult time dealing with solids!
Good Luck and keep up all you are doing....keep here on the board....asking any and all questions you may have...and getting to know everyone here! We are thrilled to meet Newbie's!!!

HI sandy!
GLAD you found the wonderful forums.
I would think the best time to step up your
food stage is as your sugeon okays you too move up.
EVERY surgeon has a different protocal for this.
VERY important to follow his rules and let your insides
heal. BE sure your getting in your chewable vitamins.
WELCOME to the looseing side
and were all here for ur support needs

My protocal was as follows:

2 weeks clear liquids.
1 week liquids with milk based products
2 weeks pureed
then i added all foods at slo rate chewing well
and eating slo

good luck
call your doctor for his rules and stages.

Welcome, Sandy! My surgery was 3 months ago, so you're not far behind me. I had quite a few post-op complications for the first 7 weeks, but feel great now. My ticker weight isn't right--everyone has tried to walk me through changing it, but I can't get it to change. Anyway, I started at 213 and now weight 161. Hoping to get to 125 before I'm done losing. I've been at a stall for a couple weeks now. We are so excited to have you join us here. Ask all the questions you want, someone will be sure to help out.

Hi Sandy! Isn't it wonderful to see the scale going DOWN instead of creeping up up up?? I had a really rough start after the surgery, but I remember so well the anticipation and fear when I finally got to have anything other than clear liquids!! I think my first choices were yogurt, s/f pudding, instant mashed potatoes( I thought I had died and gone to heaven!), and milk based soups. I added Beneful protein powder that my dietician had advised. I was so scared that my hair would all fall out that I made sure to get enough protein! When I got to pureed I really liked canned chicken, or pureed chicken with just a touch of mayo-yum! But one thing I notice is that many things taste different to me now. Some things that I loved have too strong of a flavor to me now. Some of my favorites when I try them now, I remember what they tasted like before, and they aren't as good now. (which probably is a good thing!)A few things have just sublime flavor--almost as good as--well, we won't go there! I hope you are feeling lots better. I had some super bad mood swings when I got home from the hospital, and occasionally still do--now I just blame it on PMS ! lol Well, I hope you enjoy this site. I know I just love it. The people on here are awesome! Take care,
