Hello Everyone,
I have almost gotten through 1 week of post op from having gastric bypass surgery! I go get my staples out tomorrow! Yeah!!
I just really need some support right now and I found this website. I have cried and cried wondering if I did the right thing?? I had no doubts b/f surgery period. Now, I do and I hope it's b/c I am soooo sick of drinking water and protein drinks!! I know in my heart I did do the right thing, my head just hasn't caught up yet. I would appreciate any support, and I know I have many questions to ask. Some of my questions and concerns may have already been addressed in earlier posts, so I will try to check first. I am new to this techno stuff. Wish me luck tomorrow, OUCH!

Getting the staples out is easy. You may not even know he's doing it and then he'll say "all done!"
Your spirits will pick up when you can use your teeth again. If you do much reading here, you will find that what you are feeling now is completely normal!
Welcome!

| Welcome ~ glad you found us Yep, you're normal ~ ask away, the liquid only phase is really short - unless you're the one going thru it! Pretty soon more foods will be available to you - if you search protein drink recipes you'll see folks have gotten pretty creative with them using the sugar free davinci syrups and various protein drinks. The achieve one drinks are very popular although people like them so much they kinda get addicted to them!

Oh this is the hardest part I swear. I too cried from weeks 3 - 6 but then I found this site and realized I was normal. they call this buyers remorse. You will not be sorry in another month or so. Hang in there it will get better.

welcome to the board. It is very difficult at the beginning. Hang in there. Once you begin eating solids, you will feel better. I don't drink enough water, but when I remember to do it, I can tell that I feel better, eat less, and think of food less. Good luck!

It was SUCH a relief when the staples came out! Although, as Perfesser said, you don't even feel it.
Before you know it, you will be months out!!

I have to drink protein drinks for 4 weeks prior to surgery then for at least a week afterwards...talk about getting sick of them. HaHa It is all in the mind. You made this major life changing decision for a reason...right? We all did! Think positive! Look at all of the lucky, wonderful people on this site who are in the process or have already lost sooooo many pounds....and read how amazingly happy they are, that they too made that life changing decision. Take it a day at a time! Sip Sip Sip and Smile Smile Smile! This too shall pass and better days are ahead!
